Full Job Description
The Project Manager will assist with programmatic activities for a 21 PI USDA-SCRI CAP, including human resources, purchasing, financial management, conference events, and travel. This position will be supported by significant resources in Department of Plant Pathology UC Davis including a business office and dedicated financial analyst for the project, IT support and other administrative support available as required. The PM will provide logistical support to all program participants regarding program-related activities. In particular, the PM will organize monthly executive meetings with agenda, minutes and action points, organize the annual meeting, liaise and be the single point of contact for the Advisory Group, facilitate data sharing and uploading to secured server of processed data, and help coordinate the writing of the annual report.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position
  • Bachelor's degree in related area or 2 or more years experience in project coordination.
  • Previous experience coordinating USDA SCRI grants.
  • Experience with grant financial management, coordination of conference events, and travel, logistical coordination of monthly executive meetings, agenda, minutes and action point preparation experience, meeting organization, experience with data sharing and uploading to secured server of processed data, experience with report preparation in the REEport system.
  • Ability to run zoom meetings.
  • Working knowledge of project management principles, theories, and concepts.
  • Demonstrated ability to anticipate obstacles and plan for contingencies.

Department Overview

Plant Pathology is a teaching, research, and extension department within the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences. The purpose of this department is to determine the nature and cause of plant diseases, promote the science of plant pathology, provide leadership in research and teaching programs, and train qualified scientists to continue the principals and conduct high quality mission-oriented and fundamental research. The mission of the UC Davis Plant Pathology department is to improve plant health in the agricultural and natural landscape, so as to ensure long term food security and continuation of natural resource availability at the local, national and global scale. Through partnerships with producers, regulatory agencies, consumer communities and industry, we seek to identify key disease problems, develop short, medium and long-term solutions, and disseminate critical management information.
