Full Job Description
Objective Plans, designs, and coordinates capital projects for lab equipment, facility renovations, mechanical equipment updates, and utility support. May include infrastructure modernization, maintenance, and upgrading of labs, structures, architecture, and interior finishes. Ensure facilities comply with local, state, and federal codes and regulations. Develop implementation schedules for maintenance and subcontractor activities relating to these projects, coordinating activities to minimize operation delays and ensure compliance to schedule and project goals. Investigate the need for new equipment and participate in the make or buy decision. Ensures technical outcomes are consistent with established engineering principles and practices. You will report to the Facility E&M Manager This is an on-site role. Workplace: Cincinnati, Ohio. Responsibilities % of time: 30% - Creates and performs engineering design and analysis tasks of moderate complexity for a project. Ensure tasks meet budget, quality, and schedule requirements. 35% - Coordinate engineering modifications and new projects for facilities, including labs, pilot plants, and office environments. Ensure all work follows local and state regulations. Provide regular progress reports on the timeline schedules for all projects. 10% - Manage more complex repair of lab, pilot plant, and office facilities and equipment. Knowledge of basic carpentry, electrical, mechanical, air-conditioning, and plumbing. 5% - Helps exist space plans and use; Apply knowledge of facility design to solve moderately complex and clearly defined engineering problems. Select the best method or process from among several existing alternatives. 5% - Develops processes and applies procurement principles in the oversight, acquisition, and management of subcontractors providing support services such as design work, studies, construction, and modifications. Requirements BA/BS degree in Engineering or Facilities Management is required. Engineering. 3+ years of experience as a Project Engineer Background Experience with commercial building utility power, boiler-driven hydronic heating, emergency generator, plumbing, fire detection and security systems (MEP). Demonstrate flexibility and promptness in addressing events that could pose a safety hazard to staff, adversely affect or disrupt building systems, or compromise overall facility workflow. Experience with vendor and contractor management and interaction with regulatory agencies.
