Position Summary:

The Manager Project Engineering provides engineering and technical support to plant operations. This position will be responsible for modifying existing baking and packaging processes, implementing new baking and packaging processes as well as new products and equipment while striving to achieve reduction in overall manufacturing costs and ensuring that product quality remains unaffected or improved. This position is responsible for delivery of agreed to and approved scope, budget, and timeline associated with assigned project executions.

Key Job Responsibilities:

Develop/Execute Capital Projects including:
  • Development of project plans, budgets and Capital requests.
  • Development of detailed equipment specifications.
  • Request for proposal development and subsequent vendor selection.
  • Vendor/Construction management including change control.
  • Installation including troubleshooting and training.

Execute projects on time and within budget meeting all design criteria.

Support plant personnel in root cause and equipment performance analysis.

Support plant process improvement activities including equipment performance analysis, troubleshooting, and development of optimal settings and operating parameters.

Develop capacity plans and recommend alternatives for addressing shortfalls.

Perform job responsibilities with minimal day to day oversight.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, as well as the ability to effectively negotiate and influence others.
  • Knowledge of commonly used process control and improvement tools
  • Well organized, ability to prioritize and manager multiple projects with flawless results.
  • Willingness to travel 50 to 70% of the time.
  • Flexibility to travel to various plants in the US and Canada as needed.

Education and Work History:
  • Bachelor's level degree in Engineering. A combination of education, training and experience that results in demonstrated competency to perform the work may be substituted.
  • 5 - 7 years of prior engineering experience. Experience within the food, pharmaceutical, or consumer goods industries is preferred.
  • Experience creating, reading, and understanding of Auto-CAD drawings.
  • Computer skills and proficiency, specifically the ability to Microsoft Office Project to track project status.
  • Experience managing large projects (1 million dollars + in assets).
  • Controls Systems experience including PLC's, Drives, Variable Frequency Drives (VFD), specific to Allen Bradley, Siemens, Rockwell, and other brands is a plus.
