This Opportunity

WSP is currently initiating a search for a Project Engineer/Area Engineer out of our Columbia, MD office.

Your Impact

Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsible for managing Project Engineers and assisting the Construction Manager in administering the assigned MDTA projects.

Attend and participate in progress meetings with MDTA and the MDTA contractors.

Coordination of issues that relate to multiple construction segments, and coordination with the Construction Manager for assigning the inspection staff.

Responsible for reviewing and approving monthly progress payment requests from the contractor, which includes preparing an independent estimate of work completed during the month and reviewing contractor claims and negotiating costs for construction change orders.

Assist and actively participate in the resolution of Non-Conformance Reports (NCR) and Deficiencies. Attend regular NCR and Deficiency resolution meetings.

Plan ahead to foresee problem areas that may potentially cause a delay/claim situation and provide input to solve the problems to minimize time and cost impacts.

Prepare correspondence relating to projects.

Recommend solutions to problems arising during construction.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Who You Are

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum 7-10 years MDOT MDTA/SHA construction experience

Bachelor's degree in engineering or construction management or equivalent

Knowledge of construction methods, scheduling and materials.

Knowledge of inspection methods.

Ability to deal effectively with contractors, engineers, architects and representatives of utility and government agencies.

Supervisory ability.

Knowledge of field inspection equipment; ability to read and interpret plans and contract specifications; and maintain detailed records.

Compensation:

Expected Salary (all locations): $140,000-150,000

WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location.
