Position Summary

The Transportation Project Engineer is responsible for leading technical assignments, supervising the technical production, and managing the general production of technical documents such as Right-of-Way Improvements Plans (Roadway Widening, Intersection Widening, ADA Improvements, Traffic Signal Installation, etc.).  The Transportation Project Engineer will primarily assign technical tasks as needed to facility the successful completion of projects within specified deadlines.  This position will work with the Project Manager in carrying out the management and development of the work product.

 

The Project Engineer will be the liaison between the project team and review transportation agencies including municipal, county, and state agencies for the various Dynamic Traffic project types.

Responsibilities
  • Manage the production of plans including construction plans, grading plans, drainage plans, profiles, cross sections, signing and striping plans, ADA curb Ramp Plans, Traffic Signal and Electrical Plans, and other items as needed to develop a project within the public right-of-way by directing and managing others or conducting the work
  • Research and coordinate transportation projects with utilities as needed
  • Work with the Project Manager to develop, maintain and execute project objectives, timelines, goals and budgets
  • Conduct project-related communications with clients and reviewing jurisdictions
  • Attend project meetings with Project Manager/Principal
  • Supervise and manage other engineers and personnel
  • Help to build and maintain relationships with agency engineers and clients
  • Provide technical assistance and quality control oversight on traffic engineering projects during the conceptual development stage
  • Provide transportation engineering support to other divisions of the company as needed
  • Serve as the technical liaison with clients on project efforts and coordinate technical efforts within the traffic engineering discipline
  • Lead and direct sub-consultants as needed
  • Prepare technical reports such as Drainage Reports, Design Exception Reports, and others as needed
  • May prepare written reports and oral presentations related to design plans and reports prepared
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering
  • 4 + years of experience in traffic/transportation engineering
  • Professional Engineer (PE) registration required or working towards
  • Experience dealing with regulatory agencies and review professionals
  • Proficient with AutoCAD Civil 3D (Corridors)
  • Experience with Microstation
  • Experience with NJDOT, PennDOT, and County standards
  • Traffic Signal design and timing experience
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Software including Word, Excel, Outlook and Project
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Independent and critical thinking abilities
  • Superior organizational and delegation ability
  • Ability to work and lead in a team oriented environment with a focus on staff development and mentoring
  • Experience in managing complex programs and projects
  • Proven leadership ability
