OverviewWho we're looking forToyota's Plant Engineering Department is seeking a motivated and results-driven Mechanical, Electrical, or Controls Engineer to join our team.
In this role, you will lead the design, planning, and execution of facility construction projects, including expansions, renovations, infrastructure upgrades, and greenfield developments across our North American locations including Georgetown, KY, San Antonio, TX, Ann Arbor, MI, San Jose, CA, Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico, Guanajuato, Mexico facilities.
Reporting to the Manager, Plant Engineering Projects' team, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality facility projects that meet safety, cost, schedule, and performance objectives while supporting our manufacturing, R&D, logistics, and distribution operations throughout North America.
What you'll be doing- Lead engineering and project management activities for facility construction, expansion, renovation, and infrastructure projects across North America.
- Develop and review Civil, Structural, Mechanical, and Electrical design criteria to ensure consistency, quality, and compliance with facility standards.
- Provide technical support and guidance to manufacturing facilities on building design, construction, and facility infrastructure improvements.
- Provide technical support and guidance for industrial building systems, including HVAC, compressed air, chillers, and other facility utility systems.
- Manage project scope, budget, schedule, quality, and safety objectives while coordinating with internal stakeholders, contractors, consultants, and suppliers.
- Prepare project status reports, lead engineering studies, and communicate project progress and recommendations to key stakeholders.
What you bring- Bachelor's degree in engineering or engineering technology, or a related technical field.
- 2+ years' experience in industrial building design and construction, including facility infrastructure and building systems.
- 2+ years' project engineering or project management experience supporting industrial construction projects.
- 2 years' experience with one or more of the following:
- Industrial mechanical systems (piping, chilled water, compressed air, HVAC, utilities, etc.)
- Industrial electrical systems (switchgear, power distribution, 480VAC and above)
- Controls systems, including PLCs, industrial networking, Building Management Systems (BMS), and Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite including Excel, PowerPoint, and other applications.
- Ability to travel up to 80% within the United States, Canada, and Mexico based on project needs, with flexibility to work additional hours as required.
Added bonus if you have- Bachelor's degree in the specified Engineering areas of Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or Chemical Engineering.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or Registered Architect (RA) credential.
- Experience with industrial mechanical systems, including piping, chilled water, compressed air, and related utilities.
- Experience managing industrial construction projects valued at $20M or more.
- Experience with industrial power systems, including switchgear, power distribution, and systems operating at 480VAC and above.
- Experience with industrial structural steel systems.
- Experience managing large-scale civil construction installations.
- AutoCAD experience.
