Project Engineer

Description

Modern Railway Systems, the systems subsidiary of Stacy Witbeck is hiring a Project Engineer to help deliver our work on the historic California High-Speed Rail Track and Systems project. You'll have the opportunity to work with a dynamic Team that prioritizes agency, mentorship, training, and collaboration in an engaging work environment. The project is currently in pre-construction phase, with great opportunity to build your skills, grow your career, and the potential to build and lead a team. We are looking for a teammate who brings self-starting energy who can contribute quickly. The project will include typical pre-construction and construction management tasks such as planning, cost controls, scheduling, interaction with owner reps, subcontractors, and vendors, and much more.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

Preconstruction Activities: Project start-up tasks to include estimating support, development of project management and administrative processes.

Planning & Scheduling: Collaborate with project team members to develop project schedules, 4-week look-ahead schedules, and monitor progress.

Subcontractor Coordination: Support and coordinate with subcontractors to ensure work is completed on schedule and within budget.

Cost Control & Quantity Takeoffs: Track quantities, perform cost coding, prepare monthly cost projections, and manage material procurement.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

Education: B.S. Degree in Construction Management or other relevant engineering discipline or equivalent years of experience in related field.

REQUIREMENTS
  • 3-7 years of experience as a Field Engineer, Project Engineer, Assistant PM, or similar construction/project delivery role.
  • Strong understanding of project document control procedures and processes.
  • Proficiency in Bluebeam, Microsoft Office Suites, Teams
  • Valid U.S. Driver's License in good standing.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work onsite in the Sacramento office and travel as needed for project, training, and company events.


PREFERENCES
  • Experience with rail systems, transit, or electrical construction is preferred. Other construction backgrounds will be considered.
  • Experience supporting complex public infrastructure or transportation projects is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Procore, Primavera P6, Bluebeam, and HCSS HeavyBid is a plus.
