Responsibilities

Full Job Description
Would you like the opportunity to join our team as a Materials Testing Project Engineer at Geocon Professional Services? As a member on this team, you will have the opportunity to manage construction materials testing projects in northern and western Illinois as well as aiding geotechnical investigations. This position is based in our Rockford, Illinois office location.

Your New Opportunity
  • Working on construction materials testing proposals, reports and project management related to those aspects
  • Helping to manage geotechnical investigation field work (set up, layouts, client coordination)
  • Project managing construction materials testing, addressing building materials such as soils, asphalt, and concrete
  • Communicating and coordinating with clients, contractors, IDOT
  • Managing a group of construction testing field techs
  • Overseeing the daily activity of the CMT lab and ensuring clients receive reports and data
  • Visiting job sites and meetings as required. Perform materials testing and special services in the field on active construction sites.
  • Marketing to build relationships and new clients

Your Background and Credentials
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering with concentration in civil or geotechnical engineering
  • An active PE license in the state of Illinois is preferred, but not required
  • At least 3 years of construction experience
  • IDOT QA/QC experience preferred
  • IDOT QMTP certifications preferred
  • Experience with Microsoft products, specifically Word and Excel, is required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and relationship building skills
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Excellent organizational, planning, and prioritization skills

The pay range for this position is $75,000 to $120,000 annually. Final compensation is dependent on multiple factors including years of experience, any applicable licensure and/or certifications, and internal pay structures.
