Job Description

Stantec is actively seeking a Transportation Engineer for our team located in Hamilton or London, Ontario office. This group provides consulting services for Class Environmental Assessment, Preliminary Design, and Detail Design projects for public sector clients, including the Ministry of Transportation Ontario and several Ontario Southwest/GTA municipalities.

Your Key Responsibilities

As a Transportation Engineer, you will be responsible for the leading and assisting municipal transportation design projects for clients across Ontario. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Directing roadway design staff, and managing multi-discipline project teams
  • Financial management of projects including budget forecasting, resource management, change-order management, and client invoicing
  • Developing proposals, budgets and schedules, and on-going business development and liaison with clients
  • Collaborating with Transportation Leaders and other Project Managers to identify staffing, equipment, and training requirements
  • Supporting the Stantec Quality Management System, and promoting Stantec's Environmental Health & Safety program
  • Ensuring that the required functions of the project are satisfactorily performed
  • Developing and delivering progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation, and presentations
  • Building a strong culture of quality design and teamwork
  • Clients may be both internal and external to Stantec
  • Other duties as assigned/required

Your Capabilities and Credentials

The ideal candidate will also have the following additional skills and qualifications:
  • Strong leadership, negotiation, communication and customer relationship skills are essential
  • Experienced in AutoCAD, Microstation and OpenRoads or Civil 3D software will set you apart from your peer group
  • Experienced in report and proposal writing
  • Experienced roadway design

  • University or college degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in the field of road design and construction
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng. or LEL) is required
  • Minimum of five (5) years demonstrated experience with project management or engineering design responsibilities


Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
