Your Opportunity

Stantec is seeking a TransportationProject Engineer - Roadway in our Nashville, Tennessee office.

Your creativity will be applied to a variety of projects including urban and rural roadways, freeways and interchanges, multi-modal facilities, and alternative intersection designs. In addition, you will have the opportunity to work on exciting and meaningful transportation initiatives, including Complete Streets, Safety Improvements, Alternative Delivery Projects, Planning and Environmental Linkages (PEL) studies, and more! These projects are at the forefront of shaping safer, more sustainable, and more connected communities.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Perform as project manager, and/or technical specialist on roadway engineering projects, responsible for invoicing, managing, and monitoring financial performance of project budgets.
  • Serve as a technical specialist and consultant to other engineering disciplines on transportation-related projects.
  • Prepare reports and develop planning documents.
  • Communicate with clients and stakeholders to understand client's needs.
  • Identify and analyze the principal design features and major design alternatives that satisfy the project's purpose and the client's needs.
  • Produce detailed, high-quality design plans, specifications, and estimates in accordance with applicable procedures and standards.
  • Peer review plans and provide quality control reviews of technical specifications, contract documents, and estimates.
  • Mentor junior staff in technical design elements and the development of project documents.
  • Actively identify project pursuit opportunities, manage client relationships, develop new clients, and assist in the preparation of proposals to win those pursuits.


Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials
  • Professional Engineer registered in the State of Tennessee or the ability to obtain licensure within 6 months.
  • Proficient in design of transportation/civil engineering projects including preparation of plans and specifications, and cost estimates for all aspects of roadway construction.
  • Ability to lead one or more design teams through all phases of project production.
  • Ability to perform and/or oversee the preparation of roadway design plans including geometric layout, drainage design, and earthwork computations.
  • Ability to work with other transportation related disciplines to incorporate bridges and / or other structural elements, traffic signals and / or other traffic control elements, Intelligent Transportation Systems and roadway lighting into a comprehensive plan set.
  • Proficient in planning and report preparation
  • Proficient in traffic control plan production and sequence of construction for roadway projects including Transportation Management Plans, temporary signing, striping and barricades, and detour plans.
  • Sufficient experience to fulfill construction support services such as plan changes, responses to Requests for Information, and shop drawing reviews.
  • Comfortable working collaboratively with team members virtually.
  • Recent experience planning and developing Roadway projects in Microstation, Geopak and OpenRoads is desired.
  • Thorough knowledge and interpretation of transportation industry standards and guidance i.e. AASHTO, MUTCD, FHWA
  • Experience with TDOT Roadway Design Guidelines and Project Delivery Network is desired.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's or higher Degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer is preferred.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in the field of Civil Engineering with preference given to transportation experience.

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.

Benefits Summary: Regular full-time and part-time employees (working at least 20 hours per week) have access to medical, dental, and vision plans, a wellness program, health saving accounts, flexible spending accounts, 401(k) plan, employee stock purchase program, life and accidental death & dismemberment (AD&D) insurance, short-term/long-term disability plans, emergency travel benefits, tuition reimbursement, professional membership fee coverage and paid family leave.
