Plains has an immediate opening for a Project Engineer in our Midland, Texas office. Reporting to the Reporting to the Manager, Operations Technical Support, you will focus on project engineering, management, and construction completion, ensuring the successful execution of Plains' capital investment and capital maintenance programs.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist with small-scale projects and/or sub-teams on larger projects.
  • Assist in all aspects of the project management process, including scope development, cost and schedule, contracting strategy, contractor bid and award, procurement, construction, documentation and close-out.
  • Adhere to Plains' engineering specifications and minimize change orders.
  • Collaborate with operating locations in planning project execution and engage stakeholders.
  • Assist in project reviews to ensure project execution plans are based upon sound engineering principles; ensure concepts, costs and time schedules are well developed, and projects will accomplish the stated objectives.
  • Provide engineering services to operating locations regarding technical matters related to cost performance, economic evaluations, design of operating equipment, and layout.
  • Prepare, administer, and monitor project budgets and schedules.
  • Initiate, review, and negotiate project change orders.
  • Oversee field implementation for assigned projects, as appropriate.
  • Resolve design and construction conflicts, drive project performance.
  • Develop and issue project reports as needed for both internal and external distribution.
  • Ensure the maintenance of detailed records of project activities.


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction Management required, Mechanical or Civil focus preferred.
  • Pipeline and Terminal project, or operational experience are considered an asset.
  • Experience with a pipeline company considered an asset.
  • Working knowledge of the Engineering Design Process.
  • Ability to multi-task and perform highly detailed work under changing intensive deadlines.
  • Aptitude for analyzing and solving complex problems.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills are a must.
  • Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook).
  • Cleared criminal history (background) check and satisfactory reference checks.
  • Compliance with the company's Drug & Alcohol Policy including pre-employment testing.
  • Valid state driver's license and driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers.
