Full Job Description
Position Title: Project Engineer-Pipeline and/or Pipeline Facilities

Location: Houston, TX

Responsible for project engineering on small projects or portions of Pipeline and /or Pipeline Facilities projects. Project engineering experience on pipeline design and/or pipeline facilities (compressor stations) projects would be a plus. A project engineer is defined as an individual who has responsibility for coordinating the various engineering, construction, purchasing, scheduling, and start-up aspects of a project(s) or an individual who has responsibility for the technical portion of a project(s) across all disciplines. Typically, the individual at this level has been promoted from a General Engineering Level position or transferred from another position of comparable level. A professional registration or license is preferred.

Essential Functions
  • Review and utilize Gulf procedures and work instructions as assigned to the Project Management group personnel.
  • Direct engineering and design for the assigned segment of the project
  • Assign a scope of work to each discipline working on the project team and distribute design information as required
  • Participate in weekly project team meeting and maintain the action item/deliverable register for review and updating on a weekly basis
  • Resolve problems at the interface between the segment and adjoining segments or between disciplines on the project team
  • Review deliverable products to ensure the intent of the basis of design is met
  • Assist in engineering design when the engineering specialty is required
  • Manage the activities of the project team to meet the committed schedule
  • Document orders initiated by the Client and determine the impact of these change orders on the segment of the project
  • Review progress of work scope and report on schedule and budget projections

Requirements

Qualifications
  • Normally requires a BS or MS degree and a minimum of 7 years of experience in pipeline and or pipeline facilities engineering, with typical engineering experience ranging from 10 to 15 years.
  • Must be able to build out estimates in order to develop projects
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and leadership skills
  • Knowledge of computer systems in an engineering environment
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Education
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering required; graduate engineering degree preferred
  • Professional Engineer preferred

Work Environment/Physical Demands
  • Working conditions are normal for an office environment.
  • Frequent sitting and operating a computer.

  • Physical demands requirements are at levels of those for sedentary work.
  • Ability to travel as required for meetings with client (s), other parties, or site visits that may require overnight stay.
