DescriptionSeeking an experienced Project Engineer to support commercial mechanical construction projects in the Southern California market. Working closely with Project Managers, this position coordinates the technical and operational aspects of assigned projects and helps ensure work progresses safely, efficiently, on schedule, and within budget. The ideal candidate has experience with a mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, or MEP contractor and understands the coordination, documentation, procurement, and field support required to successfully execute commercial construction projects. Responsibilities:- Support Project Managers in the planning and execution of commercial mechanical projects.
- Manage project documentation including RFIs, submittals, change orders, shop drawings, proposals, and subcontract documents.
- Coordinate project schedules, procurement, labor, materials, vendors, subcontractors, and field activities.
- Assist with estimating, forecasting, cost tracking, and project closeout.
- Identify project issues and work with project and field teams to drive solutions.
- Build strong customer and trade-partner relationships while developing the commercial skills to eventually help generate new business.
Must-Have Skills, Experience, & Education:- Experience with a mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, MEP, or commercial construction contractor.
- Ideally, experience supporting or managing projects ranging from approximately $30K to $1M in value.
- Working knowledge of commercial construction processes, project documentation, scheduling, procurement, and field coordination.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
- Strong communication, organization, problem-solving, and relationship-building skills.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred; equivalent industry experience considered.
- Interest in developing customer-facing and business-development capabilities over time.
