Full Job Description
Position Title: PROJECT ENGINEER
Location: HOUSTON, TX (CORPORATE HEADQUARTERS)
FLSA Class: EXEMPT
Responsible to: HEAD OF PROJECT ENGINEERING

Position Summary: The Project Engineer will have a technical background in Electrical Engineering to support the execution of microgrid power plants and natural gas asset development & reliability. This role will be responsible for managing project delivery, coordinating with engineering partners, and overseeing packaging vendors-particularly those supplying electrical equipment, large generator engines, and gas turbines. The candidate will play a key role in ensuring projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to the highest safety and quality standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Manage engineering projects for natural gas engine and turbine-based power plants.
  • Oversee and coordinate with electrical vendors, mechanical equipment suppliers, and contractors to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Support procurement efforts by evaluating vendor proposals, equipment specifications, and delivery schedules.
  • Provide on-site support during design, installation, and commissioning phases.
  • Track project schedules, budgets, and deliverables, reporting progress to leadership and clients.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to identify and resolve technical or logistical issues.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, vendors, and contractors.

Other Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related programs.
  • 4-10 years of experience in project engineering, ideally within power generation, utilities, or industrial construction.
  • Strong knowledge of power plant equipment (natural gas engines, turbines, switchgear, transformers, balance-of-plant systems).
  • Proven ability to manage multiple stakeholders and complex projects.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to travel to project sites as required.
  • Preferred Skills
  • Experience with turbomachinery, rotating equipment, or distributed power systems.
  • Knowledge of permitting, codes, and standards relevant to power generation.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent is an asset.
