Position Purpose:

The Idaho Nuclear Technology and Engineer Center (INTEC) plays a key role in the DOE-EM mission to store nuclear fuel and plan for the future of used nuclear fuel storage, processing, and shipping. Project Engineering has the responsibility to maintain existing nuclear facilities, plan future used nuclear fuel projects, maintain design requirements and nuclear safety compliance, and provide engineering support for the on-going mission.

Assigned to Used Nuclear Fuel Projects. Maintains knowledge and responsibility for ensuring all technical information in all documents (drawings, documents, operating procedures, system notebooks, etc.) are accurate and thoroughly representative of assigned systems. Assigned to systems as the technical Subject Matter Expert and to projects as the technical lead. Knowledgeable of the engineering processes; ensure technical deliverables associated with assigned systems and projects are completed per schedule. Develop and approve maintenance criteria and corrective actions for assigned systems. Define engineering, drafting, procurement, quality and document control resources as necessary for assigned project. Ensure accurate and on-time execution of engineering deliverables of assigned responsibilities to support project objectives.

Considered the Technical Authority for project design requirements. Reviews and approves all changes to assigned systems, including, but not limited to, temporary modifications, permanent modifications, field changes, procedure changes, drawing changes and any other changes to associated configuration managed documents, ensuring accurate and thorough configuration management is maintained for the UNF project. Assists project management in the development of scope and schedules; works closely with project management to ensure the completion of deliverables and the success of the project.

Minimum Qualification Requirements (Education/Experience):

This is a multi-level posting and the successful candidate will be placed at the appropriate level dependent on depth and breadth of proven experience and skills. At the Idaho Environmental Coalition, compensation decisions are determined using factors such as education, relevant experience, and other credentials.

Bachelor's degree in mechanical, chemical, electrical or civil engineering, plus:

Salary Grade 15: 2 years relevant experience.

Salary Grade 18: 12 years relevant experience.

Position Responsibilities:

Perform Project Support duties as follows:

- Take direction from and report frequently to the Used Nuclear Fuel Engineer Manager to verify technical deliverables are accurate and thorough (home organization).

- Take direction from and report frequently to the Project Manager to provide consistent, on-time technical deliverables for assigned projects (matrix organization).

- Perform appropriate actions necessary to comply with approved Project Execution plans and procedures.

- Ensure vendor technical information, appropriate standards, references, lessons learned, system history of repairs (preventative maintenance feedback), project history, modifications history, operational problems or other unique conditions or circumstances as necessary are appropriately captured and included into Project deliverables/ schedules.

- Coordinate with Design, Criticality, Nuclear Safety, Analysis, Quality engineering and drafting as necessary in support of Project deliverables.

- Coordinate with and serve as backup to the Project Manager. Make "proceed-at-risk" determinations, assist with planning and scheduling, assist with development of fuel movement plans/ strategies, assist with determination of resources and budgets, and manage execution of assigned projects.

- Initiate and oversee procurements through performing material take-offs from designs and working with procurement personnel on quality, material ordering, IRCOs, etc.

- Oversee Equipment Acceptance Testing and ensure that designs and equipment meet Technical and Functional Requirements

Perform Engineering duties as follows:

- Ensure vendor technical information, appropriate standards, references, lessons learned, system history of repairs, project history, modifications history, operational problems or other unique conditions or circumstances as necessary are appropriately captured and included into deliverables / schedules.

- Coordinate with Design engineering and drafting as necessary to establish design changes in support of projects and operations.

- Apply engineering principles to ensure appropriate configuration management, timely application and completion of Engineering deliverables associated with assigned systems and projects.

- Review and approve all Work Orders and other printed media (drawings, procedures, requirements documentation, etc.) associated with assigned systems and projects.

- Provide design verification for assigned systems.

- Support maintenance and operations activities.

- Identify and modify procedures and requirements as necessary to support projects and operations.

Complete assigned projects/tasks as assigned by management.

Maintain training consistent with Individual Training Plan.
