PROJECT ENGINEER, ENERGY SOLUTIONS
This position is based out of our San Jose, CA office.
About the P osition
The Energy Solutions (ES) Project Manager (PM) is responsible to manage multiple Photovoltaic (PV) and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) projects of varying sizes and complexities from start to finish, including proposals, bids, project design, quality control, job scheduling, problem resolution, job completion, coordination, communication, client satisfaction activities and other related duties, in alignment with all Company policies, procedures, key objectives and regulations. This position assists or manages job estimating, project budgets, projections and contracts, job solicitation and project negotiations, and may also be responsible for training, mentoring, and providing work direction to other project team members.
Day in the L ife
Reviews plans and specifications to understand project scope and milestones, design, budget, and schedule requirements. Prepares drawings and sketches, change orders, estimates, RFIs, material and labor cost codes, etc. to support construction project work. Stays informed of new electrical codes, materials, technologies, techniques, and practices.
Assists project managers with budget tracking, customer billing, labor estimates, engineering, staffing, scheduling, job cost reviews, purchase orders, project status reports, and tracking of inspections, testing, and reporting. Participates in project status meetings and assists in developing meeting minutes for distribution.
Maintains accurate documentation of all plans, submittal logs, record drawings and project logs, and assures that all are received, reviewed, returned, and disseminated to the appropriate parties promptly. Ensures submittals are thoroughly and accurately reviewed for content and conformance with the construction documents. This includes specification logs, RFIs, ASIs, change orders, inspections, and testing.
Coordinates preconstruction activities as needed, such as construction planning and design, interpretation of design and drawings, projections, preparation of takeoffs, application of construction methods and bid packages. Research and recommend resolutions to drawing interpretation and other problems, conflicts and errors discovered. Assists with constructability reviews and value engineering functions.
Conducts jobsite inspections of first work in place to assure accurate placement and conformance with the contract documents and the Company's project quality assurance standards. Take weekly job site photographs capturing the construction progress and records. Assists in the implementation and interpretation of safety program details and ensures all OSHA requirements are met.
Builds effective relationships and communicates with customers, foremen, design team, specialty contractors, suppliers and user groups that reflect and support the Company's core values and meet or exceed the customer's expectations. Works with vendors and distributors on availability and pricing of materials, completion of quotes and other necessary procedure details.
Consistently make decisions in an attentive and safe manner to ensure the safety and health of self and others.
Utilizes LEAN concepts or other continuous improvement methodologies to ensure the most efficient operations, processes, and activities.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in work experience in electrical, mechanical, or civil engineering.
Minimum 1 year of construction engineering experience or project management experience with PV and energy storage systems.
Fluent in Microsoft Excel is required, including the ability to create, manage, and analyze spreadsheets, formulas, reports, and project-related data with accuracy and attention to detail.
Familiarity with computerized estimating systems, Accubid and AutoCAD.
Knowledge of construction methods and materials, costing, scheduling, estimating , general industry safety standards, procedures, and regulations. Knowledge of National Electrical Code.
Project management training, experience, and skills. Understanding of the project life cycle.
Skills to read, interpret and understand electrical contracts, plans, drawings, blueprints, and specifications. Strong analytical and mathematical skills.

Salary Range
$70,300 - $100,000
