NSB Omega is searching for a Project Engineer - Electrical for our MAJOR Utilities Client in St. John's, NL.

Assignment Description

our Client and its subsidiaries require the services of one individual to join its engineering and project management team. The individual will support the execution of projects throughout Newfoundland and Labrador for our Project Execution Team (Non - Regulated).

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Provide technical support to the Project Manager on various projects;
• Perform engineering due diligence for project planning and delivery;
• Facilitate and/or complete project risk management including risk identification and associated mitigation;
• Perform project scope verifications, field verifications, engineering data gathering, and associated detailed project planning activities;
• Review tender packages prepared by other consultants and contractors;
• Review and approve shop drawings prepared by contractors and vendors;
• Prepare tender packages for contracts;
• Prepare requests for proposals (RFPs);
• Provide technical input as a design team member for projects and other technical documentation;
• Direct and supervise consultants and contractors during the completion of specific engagements;
• Overseeing quality planning and associated inspection plans for assigned work
• Review and approve reports prepared by consultants;
• Attend Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) as required;
• Conduct regular travel to Field/site locations to monitor construction activities, oversee testing, verify project progress, and provide support to site teams;
• Facilitate effective communication across stakeholders;
• Review and approve technical documentation, including commissioning;
• Assist with project closeout activities, ensuring smooth transition of completed assets to operations;
• Promote continual improvement through lessons learned, innovative approaches, and sharing best practices with other project teams;
• Submit timesheets and documentation in accordance with NL Hydro's project management requirements;
• Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
• Engineering degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Registered as a professional engineer (P. Eng) with the Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Newfoundland and Labrador (PEGNL) association (or other Canadian engineering association);
• 10 years or more experience overseeing project engineering in an Electrical environment;
• Experience in project scope definition, engineering data gathering, and associated detailed project planning activities
• Experience leading project risk identifications and mitigations
• Experience with on site project monitoring at remote locations
• Experience in design, managing construction contracts and commissioning;
• Experience in preparing project estimates;
• Experience with project quality and inspection programs
• Proven and demonstrated communication skills;
• Ability to thrive as a participant and/or leader within a multi-discipline team of both internal and external resources;
• Proven and demonstrated communication skills;

• Excellent computer skills including a working knowledge of Microsoft Office;
