Full Job Description
We are looking for a Project Engineer - Electrical, LV Switchgear/LVMCC Engineering. This position will be based at Wendell, North Carolina.

The Project Engineer develops technically sound, cost-effective low-voltage switchgear and low-voltage motor control center (LVMCC) solutions that align with customer specifications, project requirements, applicable standards, and engineering guidelines. You will partner with customers and cross-functional project teams to move designs from technical review through manufacturing, testing, commissioning support, and final documentation.

You'll make a difference by:
  • Lead the engineering design and development of low-voltage switchgear and LVMCC solutions in accordance with customer specifications, project requirements, applicable standards, and engineering guidelines.
  • Analyze customer specifications, single-line diagrams, datasheets, and contractual documents to define scope, technical requirements, engineering deliverables, and cost-effective solutions.
  • Develop schematics, wiring diagrams, bills of material, system architecture, component selections, panel arrangements, communication drawings, three-line diagrams, general arrangement drawings, and manufacturing documentation using electrical and 2D design tools.
  • Perform electrical engineering calculations and studies, including fault current analysis, busbar sizing, load assessment, voltage drop evaluation, equipment rating verification, and protection coordination.
  • Define protection and control schemes, relay logic, interlocks, and LVMCC applications involving RVSS, variable frequency drives, switching starters, intelligent devices, and auxiliary equipment.
  • Collaborate with proposal, application engineering, project management, procurement, manufacturing, testing, commissioning, and customers to support bid reviews, design reviews, technical clarifications, issue resolution, and corrective actions.
  • Ensure deliverable quality and compliance with NEMA, ANSI, IEEE, UL, NEC, IEC, and customer requirements; prepare closeout documentation, mentor engineering partners, and advance standardization and continuous improvement.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering. An advanced degree may be substituted for four years of experience.
  • 3+ years of engineering experience with the following:
  • Design and application of electrical power distribution products, low-voltage switchgear, LVMCCs, control panels, or related power delivery systems in an EPC, engineering, manufacturing, utility, or industrial environment.
  • Electrical and 2D layout tools such as EPLAN, AutoCAD, or Visio, plus Microsoft Office and product configuration or pricing applications.
  • Protection and control schemes, electrical schematics, communication network diagrams, RVSS, variable frequency drives, switching starters, intelligent devices, and LVMCC auxiliary equipment.
  • Interpreting customer technical documentation and selecting solutions that meet customer, schedule, cost, quality, and profitability requirements.
  • Cross-functional collaboration, technical communication, leadership, decision-making, customer service, and prioritization of multiple simultaneous tasks; working knowledge of business planning and project and product lifecycle processes.
  • Ability to travel less than 10%.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience creating, converting, and modifying electrical drawings in AutoCAD Electrical or Engineering Base.
  • Experience with Engineering Base software.
  • Knowledge of ANSI, IEEE, UL, and NEMA standards for low-voltage switchgear and LVMCC equipment.
  • Experience with electrical design for low-voltage switchgear systems and LVMCCs.
  • Experience with Siemens switchgear and electrical products.

The pay range for this position is $61,547 - $105,509 annually with a target incentive of 5 of the base salary. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
