Job SummaryThe Electrical Project Engineer will support the design, coordination, and execution of electrical systems for multi-family residential new construction projects. This role involves managing all technical aspects of electrical engineering-ensuring that designs meet code requirements, budgets, schedules, and quality standards-while collaborating closely with project managers, architects, and construction teams.
Key Responsibilities Include: (But not limited to the following) - Develop, review, and manage electrical system designs including power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, low-voltage, and communication systems for multi-family projects.
- Prepare and review construction drawings, specifications, and documentation in compliance with NEC, local codes, and client standards.
- Collaborate with architects, structural, and mechanical engineers to ensure coordinated design solutions.
- Support project managers in budgeting, scheduling, and take-offs of electrical components and systems.
- Conduct site visits to monitor progress, inspect installations, and ensure adherence to design intent and code compliance.
- Perform load calculations, short circuit analysis, and energy efficiency assessments as needed.
- Review and approve submittals, RFIs, and change orders related to electrical work.
- Provide technical support during construction and assist in resolving field issues.
- Ensure safety standards and quality assurance practices are maintained throughout all project phases.
- Participate in project closeout activities including commissioning, testing, and as-built documentation.
Qualifications- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field (preferred).
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred or ability to obtain within a reasonable timeframe.
- 3-7 years of experience in the electrical field for multi-family or commercial new construction projects.
- Strong knowledge of NEC, IECC, NFPA, and local building codes.
- Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, Excel and electrical design software (e.g., SKM, ETAP).
- Excellent communication, coordination, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety.
