Full Job Description
Scope of Job: This position is a responsible for performing engineering design evaluations and works to complete projects within budget and scheduling restraints. Reviews industry policies and procedures to ensure data accuracy, security, and regulatory compliance. Reviews reports of production, malfunction, and maintenance to determine or address problems. Provides technical support for the engineering process. Collaborates with other engineering departments and coordinates their disciplines to the development of the project. Designs, implements, and communicates, an operational plan for completing the project. Monitors progress and performance against the project plan. Takes action to resolve operational problems and minimize delays. Identifies, develops, and gathers resources necessary to complete the project. Prepares engineering designs and work specifications. Develops project schedules, budgets, and forecasts. Selects materials, equipment, project staff, and external contractors. A specialist on complex technical and business matters. May assume a team lead role for the work group.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:
  • Plans and formulates engineering program and organizes project staff according to project requirements.
  • Ensure that the factory plays an integral role in maintaining stocks (working with the supply chain team) to supply timely inventory and meet customer/sales needs.
  • Assigns project personnel to specific phases or aspects of projects such as technical studies, product design, preparation of specifications and technical plans, and product testing.
  • Reviews product design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, customer contract requirements and related specifications.
  • Coordinates activities concerned with technical developments, scheduling and resolving engineering design and test problems.
  • Directs integration of technical activities and products.
  • Evaluates and approves design changes, specifications and drawing releases.
  • Controls expenditures within limitations of project budget.
  • Prepares interim and completion project reports.
  • Maintain and review capital strategies across all Baxters manufacturing facilities, applying best practices for future investments of equipment and processes.
  • See projects from inception to full completion while maintaining and reporting progress related to work and budget.
  • Provide local factory technical support as part of the engineering team in support of projects and asset maintenance for both current business and integration of new capital/capacity investments. Being a steward for all site assets (infrastructure and equipment).
  • Oversee and manage all activities related to capital investment projects.
  • Track and report progress on projects to leadership. Identify and report any risks related to the project with appropriate countermeasures where applicable.
  • Solicit bids and award contracts based on best equipment or services that meets the needs of the project.
  • Work closely with local engineering and operations through the duration of projects and properly hand off for daily management including all necessary files and information.
  • Manage controlled documents related to equipment and projects within the engineering database. Update timely and assure accuracy.
  • Verify and update facility CAD drawings as well as update during projects.
  • Track all costs associated with projects. Verify asset values and assign asset numbers to project equipment and processes.
  • Evaluate performance of installed assets and make recommendations for upgrading or replacing if end of useful life is determined.
  • Work closely with plant engineer and maintenance in evaluation of top downtime offenders within each facility. Coordinate efforts for best countermeasures.
  • Participate in C.I. events upon request of plant driven problem solving.
  • Collaborate with production and supporting departments to ensure the food safety and quality of our products.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education: Bachelor's degree in mechanical or industrial engineering or closely related discipline required.

Experience: 7 years of experience as manufacturing Industrial or Technical Engineering. 2-5 years of experience in Project Management, Supply Chain, and Activity Management.
