Position OverviewB&T USA is seeking an experienced and driven Project Engineer to lead engineering projects from concept through to production. The ideal candidate will be proficient in SolidWorks, have a strong background in firearms design, and possess a solid understanding of design for manufacturability (DFM) and various manufacturing methods. Experience with suppressor design and development is a significant bonus.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Manage engineering projects from start to finish, including design, development, testing, and production launch.
- Develop and maintain detailed 3D models and 2D technical drawings using SolidWorks.
- Apply DFM principles to ensure designs are optimized for efficient manufacturing and assembly.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with manufacturing, quality, and supply chain teams to ensure project success.
- Lead design reviews, provide technical guidance, and implement feedback to improve product performance and reliability.
- Conduct engineering analysis, including tolerance stack-ups, FEA, and material selection.
- Troubleshoot and resolve design and manufacturing issues throughout the project lifecycle.
- Prepare and maintain comprehensive project documentation, including specifications, reports, and timelines.
Required Education, Experience and Skills- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Proficient in SolidWorks, with strong skills in 3D modeling and 2D drafting.
- Proven experience managing projects from concept to completion in an engineering environment.
- In-depth knowledge of firearms design and functionality.
- Strong understanding of DFM principles and manufacturing processes.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong organizational and project management abilities.
- Collaborate with and support other engineers as needed to achieve project goals and optimize resource utilization.
- Effective communication skills for technical discussions and cross-functional collaboration.
Preferred Skills:- Experience with suppressor design and development.
- Proficiency in GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
- Familiarity with ERP systems and document control processes.
- Background in materials science and advanced manufacturing techniques.
Work Environment:- Work performed in an office and manufacturing environment.
- Exposed to machine shop manufacturing elements such as noise, dust, odors, fumes, etc.
