Full Job Description
Project Engineer - Quotations
Remote | Direct Hire
About the Role
The ideal candidate is a creative, technically sharp engineer who thrives on the business-winning side of engineering. This is a quotations-focused role - you'll take RFQs, client specs, and vendor proposals, then visualize what the integrated electrical building needs to do and optimize the equipment package to win the deal. You won't create the drawings - you'll receive them from vendors and make sure they're correct, complete, and aligned with what the client actually wants. This role requires urgency, comfort with incomplete information, and the ability to ask the right questions and fill in the blanks. If you're senior enough, you'll be put in front of clients alongside the sales team.
Responsibilities
  • Review RFQs, one-line diagrams, load lists, client specifications, and vendor proposals to evaluate technical scope of supply
  • Optimize integrated electrical building packages - select the right gear, budget appropriately, and assemble technically sound proposals that win work
  • Review IFA drawings from vendors to confirm client expectations are met and scope of work has been followed; identify errors, omissions, and misalignment
  • Provide technical support to the quotations and sales teams, including preliminary design of integrated power systems and calculations as required
  • Coordinate project activities from handover through shipment across multiple projects
  • Participate in project initiation processes including technical reviews, Internal Kickoff Meetings (KOM), and design review meetings
  • Assess and communicate project costing issues to internal and external stakeholders
  • Troubleshoot technical issues that arise during design and commissioning (HVAC, fire alarm, replacement parts, etc.)
  • Assist in factory testing and field commissioning of integrated electrical packages as needed
  • Drive continuous improvement across quotations and project execution processes

Required Skills
  • Creative problem-solving - ability to work with urgency and incomplete information to optimize technical solutions
  • Ability to read and review one-line diagrams, load lists, and vendor BOMs
  • Knowledge of electrical equipment: switchgear, MCCs, transformers, VFDs, and how they integrate in a building package
  • Strong communication skills - ability to articulate technical concepts to sales teams and clients
  • Vendor evaluation and commercial awareness - understanding of pricing, budget constraints, and competitive positioning
  • Familiarity with equipment vendors in the power distribution space (Siemens, ABB, Eaton, Schneider, etc.) is a plus
  • Capable of working independently and collaboratively within a team environment
