GRANT SUMMARY

The goal of the Hope Project is to improve mental health outcomes for children and youth at risk for or with serious emotional disturbance (SED) and to bring new hope through its comprehensive and early intervention approach for the children, youth, and their families.

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Hope Project, performing general management functions to include project planning & development, personnel management, and assisting with or performing budgeting and procurement of funds management. This position is responsible for ensuring the implementation and coordination of new treatment services including Outpatient, Day & Home-Based Treatment, and Recovery Services using an Athabascan Recovery Model that integrates culturally specific principles and groups into treatment.

JOB DUTIES

  • Establishes pathways to ensure the full complement of Required Services of the four existing Behavioral Health Service (BHS) service units and a 22-member community behavioral health coalition, the Behavioral Health Community Coalition. The service units include Early Childhood; Screening, Brief Intervention and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT); Assessment; and Suicide Prevention.
  • Ensures comprehensive outreach to contact individuals who typically fall through the cracks.
  • Verifies screening, assessment, diagnostic, evaluation services, crisis emergency services, family services, respite care have been provided to consumers.
  • Develops an Annual Sustainability Plan in coordination with the Behavioral Health Community Coalition.
  • Oversees and makes recommendations for the training of service providers.
  • Ensures coordination with partner projects for suicide prevention services.
  • Ensures all grant requirements are met by overseeing contract deliverables with responsibility for achieving project goals and objectives.
  • Oversees daily operations of project duties, goals, and objectives in a timely manner.
  • Supervises project to ensure all services are providing culturally appropriate, trauma-informed care and are guided by evidence-based practices.
  • Monitors project budget.
  • Ensures performance improvement and quality management by participating in continuous quality improvement and data-driven decision-making processes to assess program efficacy and drive quality improvements.
  • Ensures adherence to data collection requirements.
  • Implements project services in a timely manner.
  • Develops continuation grants.
  • Develops all grant reports per the Administration for Native Americans (ANA) requirements and submits to program management prior to submission to granting agency.
  • Meets with the Project Evaluator quarterly while overseeing quality assurance.
  • Attends ANA grantee meetings.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.


NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY

  • Ability to report to work in a timely manner.
  • Above average skills in operating/using computers and using Windows, Word, and Excel with ability to accurately input information into reporting formats.
  • Above average communication and people skills with the ability to accurately follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Knowledge on how to best assist possible escalated individuals during data collection process.
  • Strong understanding and sensitivity to diverse cultures and lifestyles, with demonstrated experience working effectively with Alaska Native populations.
  • Ability to protect confidentiality is essential; HIPAA & 42 CFR compliant.
  • Knowledge and ability to interpret/understand billing procedures.
  • Skill in managing multiple priorities and tasks concurrently and meeting their deadlines.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with other employees.
  • Ability to work independently as well as with teams.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (Education & Experience)

  • Bachelor's degree in behavioral health or related field.
  • One (1) years' experience involving program/project management.
  • One (1) years' experience working in behavioral health.
  • One (1) years' experience working with AN/AI population and experience providing culturally specific services.
  • A combination of experience, education, and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may substitute for degree requirements.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (Education & Experience)

  • Master's degree in behavioral health or related field.
