Full Job Description
RK&K is seeking a self-motivated, experienced engineering technician/designer to lead a variety of natural gas projects that may include design, preparation of construction documents, and construction field modification. This position affords you the opportunity to fully engage in solving complex problems, provide technical evaluation, and evaluate the costs and benefits of alternative solutions. Some travel required.

Essential Function
  • Develop technically accurate, clean, and deliverable drawings
  • Assist in developing specifications, reviews submittals, coordinate project submissions, and communicate with clients
  • Coordinate the preparation of multi-discipline drawing sets as required for assigned projects, including coordination with technical, administrative, and other design staff
  • Promote, utilize, and support quality assurance and quality control processes to improve the quality of deliverables and reduce design errors & omissions
  • Work with teams and project personnel in providing technical research and regulatory compliance requirements for assigned projects
  • Assist in the bid process

Required Skills and Experience
  • Ten years of general utilities or technical engineering experience, preferably in the natural gas and pipeline industry
  • Associates level education in design related curriculum
  • Ability to coordinate simultaneous tasks
  • Proficiency in communicating technical information
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD/MicroStation
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook)
  • Experience with BGE systems (Asset Suite 8, Intellio Connect, Smallworld, Hyperion, and Documentum) is preferred

Preferred Skills and Experience
  • Natural Gas distribution design
  • Electric Distribution design (OH, URD)

Travel Requirements

Occasional travel as assigned either locally or extended distances; can be one or more nights away from home.
