Full Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Project Manager with a strong background in traffic design to join our growing team in Charlotte, NC. This leadership role is ideal for someone who thrives on managing complex transportation projects, overseeing technical teams, and developing strong client relationships.

The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of traffic engineering principles and design standards, and be comfortable managing all phases of project development-from proposal to close-out.

Essential Functions:
  • Manage and deliver traffic engineering projects, with an emphasis on traffic design (traffic control, signing, and pavement markings, etc.).
  • Lead the preparation of plans, specifications, and estimates (PS&E) packages, ensuring quality, accuracy, and compliance with agency standards.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients; develop and maintain strong client relationships through regular communication and collaboration.
  • Lead and contribute to technical proposals, scopes, and fee estimates for traffic and transportation design opportunities.
  • Supervise and mentor junior engineers and technical staff, providing guidance, feedback, and support for career growth.
  • Monitor budgets, schedules, and deliverables, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines and stakeholders to support integrated transportation solutions.

Required Skills and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field (Master's preferred).
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in North Carolina (or ability to obtain within 6 months).
  • Fifteen 15+ years of progressive experience in traffic engineering, with a strong focus on design.
  • Proven track record of successful project management and client interaction.
  • Proficient in design software and tools such as MicroStation, AutoCAD or similar.
  • Strong understanding of NCDOT standards and guidelines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
