Responsibilities

  • Implement cost control procedures to analyze expenses, track cost variances, and identify savings.
  • Collaborate with engineering and design teams to evaluate and recommend cost-saving measures.
  • Communicate project status, cost performance, and schedule updates to stakeholders.
  • Attend project meetings to monitor and resolve cost and schedule management issues.
  • Maintain financial reporting for individual project subtasks and summarize financial data.

Responsibilities

This Opportunity

WSP is seeking a Project Controls Specialist to join their Project Controls team. This individual can sit in our WSP locations in either Phoenix AZ, Dallas TX, Las Vegas NV, Brentwood TN, Houston TX, Boise ID, Seattle WA, or Kennesaw, GA.

Your Impact
  • Work under the direction of the Project Manager to support the planning, coordination, and evaluation of project financial reporting.
  • Develop Power BI and/or Tableau dashboards to visualize project health and key performance indicators.
  • Develop and implement effective cost control procedures to track project expenses, analyze cost variances, and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Collaborate with engineering and design teams to evaluate cost-saving options and recommend value-added changes to optimize project costs.
  • Implement integrated project controls methodologies to effectively align cost and schedule management efforts.
  • Communicate project status, cost performance, and schedule updates to stakeholders to facilitate informed decision-making.
  • Attend project meetings with stakeholders to track and resolve cost and schedule management issues.
  • Maintain financial reports for individual project subtasks and provide roll-up summary reports.
  • Review funding availability and procurement documentation to ensure conformance to approved project budgets.
  • Manage change order processes and assess the impact of proposed changes on project costs and schedules.
  • Participate in the development of project estimates, budgets, forecasts, estimates to complete, and cost trends.
  • Support PMIS system administration, maintenance, and continuous improvement efforts.


Who You Are

Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management or equivalent. Advanced degrees or professional certifications (e.g., PMI-SP, AACE CCP/CEP) are a plus.
  • 7+ years of combined field and office project controls experience on large-scale projects.
  • Extensive knowledge of cost estimating methodologies, cost control techniques, and schedule management best practices.
  • Reporting & BI Tools: Demonstrated experience developing dashboards and reports in Microsoft Power BI and/or Tableau. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required.
  • PMIS: Experience working with and/or administering Project Management Information Systems (PMIS) such as Oracle Primavera Unifier, e-Builder, Procore, or similar platforms.
  • Communication: Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills with the ability to present clearly to stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.
  • Work Style: Self-starter who thrives in a hybrid work environment and can manage competing priorities with minimal supervision.

Compensation:

Expected Salary (all locations): $ 103,900-$176,250/year

WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant's sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
