Job Description

The Lead Project Controls Specialist provides planning, scheduling, cost control, direction and other project controls functions for scheduled maintenance outages or other major projects. Responsible for developing achievable project schedules based on resource availability and constraints.

Responsibilities

Directly support multiple outage projects or other major projects by proactively implementing processes and methodologies related to planning, scheduling, cost control, estimating, risk assessment, schedule performance, and resource requirements. (20%) Provide application of scheduling logic, constraints, lag/lead relationships, float management, etc. to apply critical path scheduling methodology. (15%) Integrate planning, cost control and scheduling concepts and techniques, including assessment of sophisticated critical paths, resource loaded scheduling, and earned-value analysis. (15%) Gather, consolidate, produce, and incorporate into reports, all required cost, schedule, progress and performance data ensuring it is current and accurate (including revising the schedule to reflect actual progress) and issue reports as required and on-time. (10%) Research and evaluate data, and independently develop creative alternatives to complex processes and situations. (10%) Evaluate changes to schedules, finances, and resources in order to determine their impact on outage or project durations and budgets. Report potential problems and recommend solutions to Management. (10%) Recommend corrective actions for projects that are behind schedule and/or over budget. Analyze requirements, propose and apply techniques that allow management to regain control or minimize impact on outage schedule and financial goals. (10%) Provide direction to Project managers and key stakeholders regarding project milestones. (5%) Perform additional responsibilities as requested or assigned. (0-5%)

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related field or the equivalent through experience (Typically six years of related, progressive work experience would be needed for candidates applying for this position who do not possess a bachelor's degree) SIx years of related experience Project Management Professional certification is preferred. Extensive practical experience with MS Office applications (Excel, Word, Access), Primavera Project Planner (P6), and Oracle WAM Experience in a maintenance planning role is preferred. Prior experience in and specialized knowledge of the operation and maintenance at an electric generating station is preferred for roles in outage work. Project management skills; ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently. Knowledge of outage project plans for roles in outage work. Effective interpersonal skills and leadership abilities. Effective analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills. Effective verbal and written communication skills. The ability to work effectively with people of different backgrounds. Employees must be able to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without an accommodation.
