Overview

Several opportunities are available. Successful candidates will be responsible for managing engineering services projects across various sectors and construction programs as the Owner's Representative.

This position reports to the Director, Project Controls and PMO.

This is a full-time permanent position offering the opportunity to:

Your Role

  • Overall responsibility for ensuring project controls compliance on projects in accordance with AtkinsRéalis project execution standards.
  • Lead the establishment and maintenance of integrated project control systems and oversee the development and updating of project cost and schedule databases.
  • Oversee the implementation of work breakdown structures (WBS) and project coding structures to ensure control and integrity of the work as defined by the contract.
  • Build and maintain strong partnerships with client counterparts and joint venture stakeholders (where applicable).
  • Support project management and finance teams in monitoring overall project health through stakeholder engagement, ensuring timely and accurate information flow.
  • Analyze cost and schedule performance variances against plan and communicate the causes of variances, along with proposed mitigation strategies, to project management.
  • Monitor and analyze project costs, including budgets, commitments, actual expenditures, and accruals.
  • Develop monthly forecasts and document explanations for variances.
  • Organize project reviews throughout the project lifecycle and provide regular, timely project status updates to senior management.
  • Support schedule management activities and provide guidance to Project Schedulers.
  • Review and approve project changes.
  • Review and approve subconsultant purchase orders to ensure proper project and task allocation.
  • Prepare payment applications and validate invoices.

About You

  • Bachelor's degree in Management, Finance, Construction Management, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • 10 to 15 years of project controls experience in a large-scale project or program environment.
  • Strong understanding of global project structures, interfaces between various parties and functions, and the mechanisms required for successful execution.
  • In-depth knowledge of project controls processes and tools (P6, Oracle, EcoSys, SAP, Power BI, etc.).
  • Knowledge of CPM scheduling methodologies and experience with industry-standard software, including the Microsoft Office Suite, with a strong emphasis on Excel.
  • Solid experience with financial management and risk management interfaces.
  • Exposure to Power BI.
  • Bilingual (English and French).*

* This position requires proficiency in a language other than French, namely English, as you will be a member of a Canadian, regional, or global leadership team.

Your role

The engineer will report to the Project Manager and automation group manager, who will provide supervision for the instrumentation and control design work that includes the following:
  • Manage and coordinate with the project manager and discipline lead the progress of the engineering work in accordance with the project scope, schedule, and procedures;
  • Instrumentation and control system design, control strategy development;
  • Prepare technical documentation related to instrumentation and controls, that are required for the execution of projects, including but not limited to: equipment specifications, design criteria, P&IDs, schematics, loop drawings, instrument datasheets, wiring diagrams, layout drawings, installation details, control narratives, network diagrams, cable schedule, instrument list, equipment list, IO list;
  • Development and management of instrumentation and control system procurement packages;
  • Review vendor drawings to ensure conformity with engineering designs;
  • PLC, HMI, SCADA programming, commissioning, and Startup;
  • Mentoring team members.


About you
  • A Degree in Electrical or Automation Engineering from an accredited university;
  • Registration as a professional engineer ;
  • Minimum 20 years of diverse experience, and eager to develop skills spanning design, programming, field engineering and commissioning;
  • Experience providing engineering services related to water and wastewater (W&WW);
  • Experience in many industrial sectors will be considered a strong asset;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of instrumentation and control systems;
  • Strong understanding of cost & schedule management, delegation of work to a team and managing team performance to deliver projects;
  • Sales and business development-oriented skills, including client engagement, opportunity identification, and proposal support;
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders on a technical and interpersonal level;
  • Awareness of Health, Safety, Environment and Community policy and standards.


Expected compensation for this role is between Pay Range 117,200 to 161,200 annually. (Only Applicable to British Columbia). Base salaries are determined according to several parameters like skills, experience, and potential impact on the role.
