Responsibilities

Project Controls Lead
Location: Jennings, Louisiana Fabrication Shop (On-Site)
Schedule: Full-Time
Compensation: $45 - 60/hr
(Compensation will be based on experience, skills, and qualifications.)

Position Summary
Greenberry Industrial is seeking an experienced Project Controls Lead to support fabrication operations in our Jennings, Louisiana shop, with a primary focus on piping, structural steel, and pressure vessel fabrication projects. This role serves as a key business partner to shop leadership and project management by establishing project budgets, monitoring project performance, managing cost controls, supporting production reporting, and providing financial visibility throughout the fabrication lifecycle.
The ideal candidate will have experience supporting industrial fabrication projects from estimating handoff through fabrication, quality control, shipment, and project closeout while ensuring accurate forecasting and reporting of project financial performance.

Key Responsibilities
Project Cost & Financial Controls
  • Establish and maintain project budgets consistent with approved estimates, contract requirements, and fabrication work packages.
  • Monitor and report project performance against budget for:
    • Direct labor
    • Materials
    • Purchased equipment
    • Subcontracted services
    • Shop overhead and indirect costs
  • Develop and maintain earned value metrics and productivity tracking for fabrication activities.
  • Prepare and update:
    • Cost-to-Complete (CTC)
    • Estimate-at-Completion (EAC)
    • Revenue projections
    • Cash flow forecasts
  • Identify and communicate cost overruns, productivity trends, schedule impacts, and financial risks.
Fabrication Project Controls
  • Monitor fabrication progress for piping systems, structural steel assemblies, and pressure vessel projects.
  • Track labor hours, production quantities, weld metrics, material consumption, and fabrication milestones.
  • Collaborate with shop supervision to measure project productivity and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Support fabrication planning and execution by providing accurate project performance reporting.
  • Support schedule creation and maintenance.
  • Assist project management with work package tracking and progress measurement.
Change Management & Commercial Support
  • Support development, pricing, tracking, and reconciliation of change orders.
  • Maintain comprehensive change order logs and supporting documentation.
  • Track and report unapproved scope growth and potential commercial impacts.
  • Assist project managers with customer reporting and project financial reviews.
Document Control & Reporting
  • Support project leadership with RFIs, submittals, and project documentation tracking.
  • Prepare reports for Work-in-Progress (WIP) reviews and management reporting.
  • Maintain accurate project records and forecasting documentation.
  • Ensure reporting aligns with company financial and operational requirements.
Quality & Production Support
  • Support QA/QC teams through tracking and reporting of:
    • Non-conformance reports (NCRs)
    • Rework costs
    • Quality performance metrics
    • Corrective action tracking
  • Assist with project closeout documentation and lessons learned reporting.
  • Work closely with Engineering, Estimating, Operations, Production, Quality, and Accounting teams to support successful project execution.


Qualifications
Required
  • 5+ years of experience in project controls, cost controls, project accounting, or project management support within industrial fabrication, manufacturing, construction, or EPC environments.
  • Experience supporting fabrication projects involving piping systems, structural steel, and/or pressure vessels.
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Budget development
    • Cost forecasting
    • Earned value management
    • Productivity analysis
    • Project financial reporting
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced fabrication shop environment.
Preferred
  • Experience with Vista by Viewpoint (Trimble) or similar ERP systems.
  • Familiarity with ASME pressure vessel fabrication and industrial piping projects.
  • Working knowledge of Primavera P6 or equivalent scheduling software.
  • Experience supporting fabrication operations, production reporting, or manufacturing cost accounting.


Work Environment & Physical Requirements
  • Primarily based in a fabrication shop and office environment.
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, and navigate active shop areas throughout the workday.
  • Ability to wear required PPE while visiting fabrication areas.
  • May occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Occasional travel to customer sites, fabrication facilities, or project locations may be required.
