Full Job Description
The Project Controller works directly with the project teams to oversee the financial functions necessary for profitable completion of the assigned division(s)/project(s). The Project Controller has direct responsibility for all AP, AR, and compliance management processes. Additionally, the Project Controller is responsible for developing and improving systems and processes related to financial reporting, budget tracking, and variance analysis. The Project Controller position will report directly to the VP of Accounting, or their designee, and ensure integration of financial accounting and treasury management practices, as necessary.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Sets up and manages project AP, AR, financial tracking and reporting.
  • Work closely with the Project Executive and/or Project Manager to ensure accurate and timely tracking and issuing of change orders and subcontractor back charges.
  • Ensure compliance with the Company's financial policies and procedures, including revenue recognition and payables processing.
  • Manages project document repositories.
  • Manage operational data and maintaining data accuracy and integrity.
  • Work with Financial Controller to set up internal control systems and develop and maintain proper policies for financial reporting.
  • Review financial data monthly to ensure completeness of the data.
  • Produce monthly owner draw requests/bills and present them as required.
  • Prepare and update monthly project cash flow forecasts.
  • Understand and manage job overhead costs (office space, office supplies, consumables, etc.)
  • Analyze and forecast project profitability, revenue, budgets, and margin.
  • Follow up with clients, when necessary, regarding unpaid invoices.
  • Frequent travel to project sites should be expected.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Position Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
  • Minimum 5 years of construction accounting experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience in managing financial reporting.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills.
  • Capacity to handle pressure daily.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office and Excel. (Xlookups/Vlookups and Pivots are minimum expectations)
  • Experience with CMIC, Textura, Procore preferred.
  • Occasional lifting (up to 40 pounds), bending, pulling, and carrying.
  • Quantitative/mathematical ability (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, standard measurements).
