Job Description

AECOM is seeking a highly motivated Project Civil Engineer to support mine tailings storage facility and heavy civil infrastructure design and analysis as part of the Mining group in Denver Colorado in the planning, analysis and design phases of projects.

Job Summary/ Responsibilities:
  • Provides project leadership in the areas of design, investigation, analysis, and construction of civil infrastructure for Mine Waste (Tailings) Storage Facilities and multi-disciplinary mining projects
  • Provide direction to and mentoring to other technical staff and serves as technical advisor and reviewer for the project team.
  • Provides specialized technical input to studies and design for staff's specific area of expertise.
  • Develops study and design procedures to facilitate high-quality cost-effective work by others.
  • Performs independent technical reviews of engineering reports and design and signs off on work including quality control review of design calculations, 3D models and drawings.
  • Prepares technical specification sections.
  • Provides input for the development of engineering budget and schedule to meet requirements.
  • Develops reports in Microsoft Word to communicate the technical results of these calculations or design packages, including summaries, figures, tables, methodologies, and explanations.
  • Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment.
  • Provides engineering guidance and oversight to staff level engineers and designers.


Qualifications

Min Requirements
  • BA/BS + 6 yrs of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • Valid U.S. Driver's License and ability to pass a MVR

Preferred Qualifications
  • PE in Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, Arizona, or ability to acquire a PE in these states
  • Master's OR PhD in Civil Engineering or related field of study
  • 8+ years or more of relevant experience
  • MSHA Miner training Demonstrated progressive experience in heavy civil infrastructure design (e.g., hydrologic analysis, hydraulic analysis, stormwater management design, earthworks, road grading), construction monitoring and operations.
  • Progressive project experience including task leadership on design and design-bid-build projects.
  • Ability to lead designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, construction specifications, and final working drawings.
  • Work with CAD designers to produce construction-level drawings including grading, drainage and roadway plans, profiles, details, and sections.
  • Conduct hydraulic analyses and design of channels and culverts.
  • Prepare reservoir and pond designs including geosynthetic lining, leak detection/collection systems, outlet works, and spillways.
  • Coordinate with OSE, EPA, and other agencies for permit preparation.
  • Strong written and oral communication, quantitative and people skills.
  • Strong work ethic and professional demeanor.
  • Initiative-taking on assignments and demonstrate initiative.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, and complete multiple technical tasks under tight deadlines.
  • Assist with proposals to provide services and use client credibility gained from delivering high-quality technical services to expand work assignments.
  • Communicate with clients to discuss work scope, request information to support project execution, and receive client comments on draft work products.
  • Perform work in accordance with agreed upon scope, budget, and schedule.
  • Track and manage task budgets and schedules.
  • Author reports and prepare/or direct preparation of detailed calculation packages including proper documentation and references.
  • Must be resourceful, highly organized, professional with attention to detail and people.
