Full Job Description
Jenike & Johanson is hiring for a Project Engineer with a focus on drainage, geotechnical and hydraulics in our Tyngsboro, MA office. This position is to effectively execute on a wide range of bulk solids handling engineering assignments to ensure our clients' needs are satisfied and they're thrilled with the results. Your work will directly impact projects involving stockpile drainage and seepage, pile stability and collapse phenomena, "mudrush" events in the mining, solids washing and settling tanks in the chemical sector, moisture separation in all types of storage systems.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead the implementation and procedures for hydraulic properties testing of diverse materials
  • Participate in the definition and execution of custom laboratory experiments to validate computational results
  • Develop computational porous media multiphase flow simulations coupled with stress-stability analyses
  • Research and model complex flow dynamics between particles, fluids, and/or gases in all styles of handling applications to predict or solve problems involving safety, flow reliability or product quality.
  • Execute simulations using computational based modeling
  • Lead projects end-to-end, from proposal through analysis, reporting and presentation
  • Collaborate with internal multi-physics group to deliver results
  • Travel on a periodic basis to meet with clients, site visits, J&J offices both domestically and internationally

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in civil, Geotechnical, Mechanical, Chemical or other related engineering field; Masters Preferred
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in hydraulics testing and slope stability analysis or strong solid multi-physical experience
  • Strong fundamentals in fluid mechanics, geomechanics & computational modeling
  • Hands-on experience with simulation software (COMSOL, Abaqus, OpenFOAM, HYDRUS, SLIDE, SLOPEW or equivalent)
  • Basic knowledge of AutoCAD
  • Excellent problem-solving, written and verbal communication
  • Must have valid driver's license and passport, or ability to obtain one by employment
