Job DescriptionSUMMARY Mortenson is currently seeking a
Project Buyer II that will be responsible for working with project teams and suppliers to purchase materials, supplies, equipment and services. The primary focus of material procurement includes consumables, indirect materials, and on-site services.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Develop relationships with suppliers: solicit bids, analyze quotations, and select suppliers
- Purchase items and services at the most favorable price consistent with quality, quantity, specification requirements, and other factors
- Create and maintain catalogs for each operating group or project that is supported
- Propose purchase transactions that higher authority approve prior to final action
- Arrange returns for unacceptable products to suppliers
- Track order status from time of placing order until delivery and communicate status to project teams
- Enter purchase orders and retain contact with suppliers to ensure delivery of material on a timely basis
- Train project teams to effectively utilize procurement system
- Effectively work and build relationships with those of diverse backgrounds and organizational levels
- All other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONSKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities- Knowledge of construction processes, equipment and materials, purchasing processes and procedures
- Negotiating, organizing, planning, verbal and communication skills
- Strong customer service and analytical skills
- Active listening skills and effective communication including an openness to diverse input and feedback
Education and Experience Requirements- Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain management, construction management or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or related experience
- Minimum 4 years of experience
- Current driver's license

The base pay range for this role is $76,200 - $114,300. (Actual range is higher for the following office locations: Denver, CO and Chicago, IL - 5%, Seattle, WA, and Portland, OR - 10%, Washington, D.C. - 12.5%). This position is eligible for Mortenson's incentive plan.
Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual's knowledge, skills, and experience, with consideration given to internal equity.
