Job Description

As a Project Accounting Manager here at Honeywell Aerospace, you will lead and oversee all aspects of project accounting including accounting policy, financial reviews and reporting, controls and processes, and business support across the Controllership function. You will play a vital role in ensuring accurate project financial management and compliance on a global scale.

You will report directly to the segment controller and you'll work out of our Phoenix, AZ location on a hybrid work schedule.

In this role, you will impact the financial integrity and operational efficiency of project accounting processes, providing critical insights and support to senior management and business partners to drive successful project execution and financial performance.

Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead key quarterly reviews related to project estimates at completion (EACs), reserves, contract assets and liabilities including unbilled, advances, and deferred accounts, ensuring effective internal controls.
  • Partner with respective CFOs and business leaders to assess overall project execution performance, including risk assessment and early warning reporting.
  • Oversee monthly project-related account reconciliations, journal entries, and reporting schedules to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Provide accounting support on complex transactions including project accounting and unique customer contracts.
  • Lead pre- and post-close processes and communicate financial insights and results to senior management.
  • Collaborate with the business on strategic initiatives such as cost optimization, growth opportunities, and restructuring actions.
  • Oversee implementation of corrective action plans related to internal control deficiencies and ensure compliance with accounting policies.
  • Manage quarterly and annual external financial reporting processes and deliverables.


Qualifications

YOU MUST HAVE
  • Minimum 6 years of experience in controllership or project accounting roles with strong multinational exposure.
  • Deep knowledge of accounting policies, project accounting standards, and financial reporting requirements.
  • Proficiency in managing complex project accounting transactions including contract assets/liabilities, reserves, and unbilled revenue.
  • Experience with ERP systems and financial consolidation tools to drive accuracy and efficiency in reporting.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to lead account reconciliations, journal entries, and financial close processes.
  • Due to defense contract related work, must be a U.S. Citizen

  • CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
  • Proven leadership experience managing teams and driving process improvements in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong strategic mindset with ability to provide financial insights to senior leadership.
  • Ability to work flexible hours to meet monthly/quarterly closing requirements
  • Experience in Excel and Access
  • SAP Experience preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills, with ability to quickly and positively influence others
  • Ability to deal tactfully and confidently with customers/personnel at all organizational levels in independent and often stressful and ambiguous situations
  • Project management skills; ability to effectively participate and/or lead projects/teams
