Job DescriptionPosition Summary The Lead Project Accountant is responsible for coordinating all phases of the construction job costing process including categorizing, recording, analyzing and monitoring costs and billings associated with a large construction project as well as several smaller less complex projects. This position also assures vendor compliance in order to manage project risk. This role is assigned to supervise a team of project accountants that are assigned to support various construction projects, working closely with the Project Managers to assure timely and accurate accounting and risk management throughout the project life cycle.
Position Details- Ensures accurate and timely processing of assigned financial transactions.
- Operations of assigned areas ensuring accuracy and integrity of accounting systems and internal controls.
- Monitors financials. Coordinates the collection, consolidation, and evaluation of financial data. Prepares standard and special reports.
- Maintains knowledge of best practices, and current and proposed legislation and regulation; recommend changes to accounting policies and procedures to ensure compliance and efficiency.
- Works with the accounting manager on appropriate fiscal strategies for the organization.
- Leads departmental projects to include change/implementation of new policies and procedures.
- Reviews/completes analysis of complex accounting issues.
- Provide coaching and/or training to and supervise less-experienced Project Accountants.
Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, or Construction Management
- Excellent organization skills with high level of attention to detail
- Excellent computer proficiency and technical aptitude with intermediate to expert level ability to utilize MS Word, Excel, Power Point, Access, etc. required
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to transfer knowledge to junior level staff
- Excellent ability to meet tight deadlines and work under pressure
- Excellent to analyze and resolve difficult issues
- Excellent ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion
- Ability to remain flexible in a rapidly changing environment
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision

Pay: Final pay is determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data. For Virginia this ranges from $118,119.00 - $144,368.00 plus annual incentive, benefits, and retirement program as outlined above.
