Programs Engineers

This position may sit at an SNC site.

JOB SUMMARY:

Southern Nuclear Operating Company's corporate Fleet Plant Support Department provides support for the Southern Nuclear Fleet. We are seeking engineers with experience in Inservice Inspection, Flow Accelerated Corrosion, License Renewal/Aging Management, Buried Piping and Tanks, FLEX, Reactor Internals, Welding, and/or Cable Monitoring Programs. These program engineers are responsible for providing technical leadership and guidance in the aforementioned program(s). The successful candidate should have understanding of applicable regulations, codes, and industry standards and experience with program implementation in nuclear power plants. Activities involve ensuring code/regulatory compliance, identifying industry best practices, developing/maintaining fleet procedures, participation in industry working groups, and troubleshooting problems.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Educational/Experience
  • Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering discipline from an accredited college or university, or Professional Engineer license, is required. (Engineering Technology will not be accepted).
  • Mechanical or Materials Engineering discipline is preferred. Metallurgical, Nuclear, Civil, Chemical, and Electrical Engineering degrees will be considered based upon the candidate's experience.
  • A strong technical background in engineering and working knowledge of applicable codes, industry standards, and regulatory requirements related to the applicable programs.
  • Three (3) years or more of application and experience with programs such as Inservice Inspection, Flow Accelerated Corrosion, License Renewal/Aging Management, Buried Piping and Tanks, FLEX, Reactor Internals, and/or Cable Monitoring Programs is desired. Five (5) years or more of application and experience with applicable programs is preferred.
  • Proficiency in interpretation of system/component/isometric drawings is preferred.
  • Nuclear power site station experience is preferred.
  • Previous experience in systems engineering, programs engineering, or component engineering is preferred.

Experience Preferences

The position will be filled as a level 4 thru 7 depending on the successful candidate's qualifications and expertise. No promotional level 7s will be rewarded.

  • Ability to establish and maintain strong working relationships with counterparts at each nuclear plant site.

  • Maintain unescorted access to all SNC facilities.

MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

These positions will be responsible for the SNC program performance and associated processes/procedures are maintained and standardized throughout the SNC fleet. The program engineers are responsible for ensuring applicable regulatory code compliance, application of industry best practices, and the governance, oversight, support and performance functions of plant equipment inspection/testing. Engineering assignments typically include refueling outage support and industry travel associated with assigned duties. These positions are expected to support Corporate ERO duties.
