Job Summary:
Oversees Stroke and Neuro-interventional program data collection, abstraction and entry. Manages compliance and accreditation with regulatory agencies. Supervises and directs the activities of various levels of assigned personnel using both professional and supervisory discretion and independent judgment.
Job Requirements:
Education and Work Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in nursing or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Required
- Master's Degree: Preferred
- Five years' experience: Preferred
- One year's leadership experience: Preferred
- Two years' experience of acute care nursing in hospital setting: Preferred
Licenses/Certifications:
- Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of practice: Required
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Preferred
- Nurse Practitioner (NP) licensure in state of practice: Preferred
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Preferred
- ABNN Certified Neuroscience Registered Nurse(CNRN) certification: Preferred
- ABNN Stroke Certified Registered Nurse(SCRN) certification: Preferred
Facility Specific License/Certifications:
- Hospital Fire and Life Safety (HLFS): Required
Essential Functions:
- Maintains accountability for managing the stroke program. Achieves set standards for stroke clinical patient guidelines and ensures compliance with data submission/regulatory requirements in order to maintain Comprehensive Stroke Certification.
- Collaborates with the Medical Director(s) and management staff to oversee/lead the stroke program. Implements patient care guidelines with Emergency Medical Services (EMS), Emergency Department, Cath Lab, nursing units and other professional disciplines to ensure high quality outcomes and high patient/family/employee satisfaction.
- Provides day-to-day technical leadership while performing escalated or complex duties. Uses independent judgment requiring in-depth analysis of variable factors. Collaborates with management and top professionals/specialists in selection of methods, techniques and analytical approach.
- Provides specialized and advanced nursing knowledge and expertise while functioning as a clinician, educator, researcher and consultant to medical and nursing personnel, patients and families. Maintains responsibility for establishing/maintaining transfer agreements with surrounding hospitals through marketing/outreach activities, including community education. Increases awareness of the program and grows market share.
- Conducts performance reviews and provides input on direct reports for human resource decisions such as hiring, promotions and disciplinary actions. Participates in the development of employees. Participates in the preparation of the department budget.
