JOB SUMMARY

The Program Manager is responsible for independently owning a portfolio of multiple, interconnected workstreams and ensuring they collectively deliver strategic value to the organization. This role manages interdependencies, risks, and resources across those workstreams, aligning outcomes with business objectives, and serves as the primary point of accountability for program-level status and decision-making. The Program Manager also owns change management planning and execution for assigned initiatives - assessing change impact, building the change management plan, and partnering with stakeholders across the firm to drive adoption. The Program Manager collaborates with stakeholders - including senior and executive leadership - to ensure transparency, governance, and successful execution of initiatives, and provides mentorship to Project Managers and Project Coordinators to help build project management capability across the PMO. This role does not have formal management authority over other Project Managers' workstreams but is expected to guide and mentor less senior team members informally. The Program Manager reports to the Manager of Enterprise PMO.

Essential Functions:

Program Management:
  • Independently own and lead multiple interconnected workstreams or projects that roll up into a broader program, from initiation through close
  • Manage interdependencies, risks, issues, and resource allocation across those workstreams
  • Facilitate stakeholder engagement and communication across business units, including regular exposure to senior and executive leadership
  • Monitor program performance and ensure alignment with scope, schedule, and budget across all workstreams
  • Provide regular reporting and insights to PMO leadership and executives on program-level status, risks, and outcomes
  • Serve as an informal mentor to Project Managers and Project Coordinators, sharing PMO methodology, tools, and best practices
  • Ensure compliance with PMO standards and contribute to methodology and process improvements
  • Champion the advancement of the PMO by bringing forward best practices in project and program management from across the industry
  • Develop and maintain dashboards and reporting that give leadership clear, timely visibility into program and portfolio health
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in program management tools and platforms, driving effective adoption and use across the PMO

Change Management
  • Assess the change management needs of each assigned initiative based on audience (directly and indirectly impacted) and the size, scope, and complexity of the planned change
  • Create a comprehensive change management plan (CMP), consistent with and aligned to the broader Schellman strategy, to include:
    • Communications needs and activities
    • Training needs
    • Ongoing support and documentation needs
    • Timeline, budget, and measurable success criteria
  • Partner with stakeholders and functional resources across the firm to execute the change management plan and drive adoption

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Strong program and portfolio management skills, with demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent, interdependent workstreams
  • Ability to manage complexity and cross-functional coordination without direct authority over contributing team members
  • Demonstrated ability to build and execute change management plans, including communications, training, and adoption measurement
  • Ability to partner cross-functionally across the firm to drive adoption of change initiatives
  • Skilled in building dashboards and reporting, with strong working expertise in program/project management tools and platforms
  • Experience managing IT-related projects and demonstrated ability to select and blend project management approaches (waterfall, agile, hybrid) based on workstream needs
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities, including comfort presenting to senior and executive leadership
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop less experienced project management staff
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, Wrike and JIRA or other project management software

Education, Work Experience and Certifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, IT, or a related field, or equivalent years of directly related experience
  • 7+ years of project/program management experience, including demonstrated experience managing multiple interconnected or large-scale initiatives concurrently
  • Experience building and leading change management plans (communications, training, adoption) for enterprise initiatives
  • Experience mentoring or informally guiding other project management staff
  • Experience working on IT-related projects, applying both waterfall and agile/hybrid delivery approaches
  • PMP or PgMP certification preferred
