Full Job Description
Position Type

Full-time

This is a full-time position based in Washington D.C. InterAction maintains a hybrid work environment and employees are eligible to telework three days a week and required to work in the office two days a week. There is an expectation that employees will be based in the Washington D.C. region.

Essential Functions
  • Convene key global level policy and advocacy focal points and InterAction working groups to support advocacy advancing country-level protection strategies
  • Lead the development and implementation of a global-level advocacy strategy to advance policies on protection risk reduction with key decision makers
  • Support Humanitarian team advocacy on humanitarian principles, standards and, and related reforms
  • Lead engagement with NGO Forums on policy and advocacy related to protection and IASC reform
  • Supports Secretariat function for the Centrality of Protection (CoP) Community of Practice
  • Support the InterAction Protection & GBV Working Group
  • Develop advocacy and communications products, including policy briefs, webinars, and talking points, in support of member priorities and the CoP Community of Practice

Minimum Qualifications
  • Minimum of 5 to 7 years developing and executing complex advocacy strategies in conflict country contexts and/or at the global level. Experience in both contexts preferred
  • Experience convening diverse actors, facilitating dialogue, and mobilizing collective advocacy around complex issues
  • Excellent communication skills, including a proven ability to capture complex technical issues in a clear and concise manner, and to tailor written communication to target audiences
  • Good knowledge of the international humanitarian architecture - including UN and IASC decision making bodies, and key donors - and how to influence policy change within those systems

Preferred Qualifications
  • Proven experience influencing the policy and practice of key global donor governments
  • Spoken and written French, Spanish and/or Arabic strongly preferred
  • Experience conducting advocacy with the USG

Supervisory Responsibilities

The position does not supervise employees.

Compensation

Salary range $80,000 - $90,000 per year, commensurate with skills and experience.
