Full Job Description
PROGRAM MANAGER, OPTICS ENABLEMENT

THE ROLE:

We are in search of an experienced program manager with strong analytical, problem-solving and risk management skills. Ability to work efficiently and manage effective relationships in a cross-functional organization to meet commitments for successful customer program launches. Must be self-directed and work in complex and dynamic ecosystems.

THE PERSON:

As a Program Manager (Optics Enablement), you will own critical initiatives across AMD's extended supply chain - driving supplier capacity expansions, enabling new manufacturing capabilities, and ensuring internal teams (Procurement, Production Operations, and Engineering) are aligned on priorities, scope, and schedules.

You bring a strong bias for action and use structured, data-driven problem solving to navigate ambiguity, remove blockers, and deliver measurable outcomes for factory readiness and product launches. You influence effectively in a matrixed environment, communicate clearly at all levels, and resolve cross-functional conflicts by driving alignment - escalating only when necessary.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Own milestone planning and attainment; build and maintain the integrated program plan; track execution, resources, and spend; and deliver clear status reporting against schedule, budget, and prioritization methodology.
  • Apply project management best practices (scope, schedule, cost, risk, and change control) to lead small to large programs from concept through closure.
  • Develop executive-ready dashboards and management reports; partner with Operations management on priority setting; and align Engineering and suppliers on throughput expectations and output forecasts, yield targets, and qualification requests to improve supply.
  • Drive planning rigor and execution discipline by maintaining clean data, auditing key assumptions, and ensuring commitments are met on time.
  • Identify and drive process improvements that strengthen the capacity footprint; design and implement scalable tools, reports, and operating mechanisms that improve visibility and decision-making.
  • Proactively surface issues and risks; develop mitigation options with owners and due dates; and drive closure through the full project lifecycle.
  • Partner with extended and execution teams to spot gaps early, drive corrective actions, and manage timely escalations when program health is at risk.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Strong experience in semiconductor and/or optics field
  • Proven background working with manufacturing partners such as suppliers, substrate manufacturers, OSATs and foundry partners
  • Detailed oriented, self-driven with a strong sense of pride and ownership.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, interpersonal, presentation, written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to build relationships and work effectively as a self-starter and as part of a team
  • Proactively involve team members in planning, decision-making and execution efforts
  • Horizontal leadership/Matrix management experience
  • Collaborate in problem solving and mitigating risks with Engineering, Program/Project Management, Business Units and Product Management - both internal and external
  • Good communication, problem-solving, collaboration, interpersonal, and quantitative skills
  • Proficiency in using standard analytics tools (MS Office, MS Excel, MS Power BI, etc.)

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Material Science, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent

LOCATION:
  • Austin, TX
