Full Job Description
About the role

This is a hands-on program management role. The program manager will work closely with the people doing the work: building project plans alongside engineering managers, product managers, marketers, BD, customer success, and operations staff; breaking programs and projects down to the task level; and keeping multiple concurrent projects moving from initiation to close.

You'll own the day-to-day execution machinery of our program portfolio. You'll translate strategic priorities and committed requirements into detailed, realistic project plans, then actively manage those plans. You'll surface risks early, chase down blockers, adjust sequencing when reality intervenes, and keep stakeholders informed.

What you'll do

  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans for multiple concurrent projects and programs, working directly with the individual contributors and team leads doing the work
  • Facilitate planning sessions with cross-functional teams to break initiatives into tasks, estimates, dependencies, and owners
  • Run day-to-day project execution: standups or check-ins, status tracking, risk and issue logs, and action-item follow-through
  • Administrate communication and project plans via Pearl's instance of Notion.
  • Identify blockers early and drive them to resolution, escalating what requires leadership attention with recommendations attached
  • Keep project documentation, trackers, and status reporting accurate, current, and useful to both teams and leadership (AI usage is encouraged at Pearl, with accuracy always in mind)
  • Coordinate handoffs and dependencies across departments, catching gaps before they become slips
  • In partnership with the Product team and VP of Operations, build lightweight, repeatable project management practices that fit the goals of the company.
  • Support program-level rollups so leadership has a reliable, at-a-glance view of portfolio health

What we are looking for

  • 4-7 years of project or program management experience, with demonstrated ownership of multiple concurrent cross-functional projects
  • Experience at a startup or small company where you worked directly with delivery teams
  • Strong command of core PM fundamentals: work breakdown, dependency mapping, estimation, risk management, and status communication
  • Excellent facilitation skills: Able to run a planning session with a room of busy people and leave with documented commitments
  • High follow-through and attention to detail; you close loops without being reminded
  • Comfort with ambiguity: you can start planning from a rough goal and iteratively sharpen it with the team
  • Clear, concise written communication - in a remote-first environment, documentation and written communication are crucial
  • Proficiency with Notion, AI tools, and automation capabilities for program management

Nice to have

  • PMP, CAPM, or agile certification (or equivalent practical depth)
  • Experience in home performance, energy efficiency, climate tech, SaaS, or data products
  • Experience introducing or maturing PM practices

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Market salary based on experience and local conditions, in the range of $120k to $140k
  • Medical, vision and dental coverage provided at no cost for employees and their families (with an option to purchase upgraded coverage at a minimal cost to employee)
  • FSA, HSA, and dependent care accounts
  • Life insurance coverage
  • Employer paid cell phone service
  • 401(k) with employer match up to 4%
  • Stock options
  • 15 vacation days during the calendar year, plus holidays (including the week between Christmas and New Year's Day), a floating holiday for your birthday, sick days, and paid parental leave
  • Flexible work environment: work remotely from anywhere within the U.S.

Note before applying

In lieu of a cover letter, we ask every applicant to answer a few short questions about their hands-on experience. These replace the cover letter. We're looking for specifics (systems you've actually touched, problems you actually solved), not generic summaries. This is a required part of the application.

The pay range for this role is:

120,000 - 140,000 USD per year (Remote (United States))
