Job PurposeThe project manager I is part of the Project Management Office and will be responsible for several individual projects that are large in scope. The project manager I will be responsible to plan, budget, oversee and document all aspects of assigned projects. The project manager I will work closely with upper management to ensure transparency regarding the health of the scope and direction of each project, as well as other departments for support.
Education / TrainingRequired:
• Bachelor's degree with emphasis in Business or Program Management or equivalent;
• Experience using in MS-Project, Primavera or other project management scheduling tool;
• Minimum 10 years' experience on capital intensive, highly engineering, long life cycle product line;
Preferred:
• Masters;
• Exposure to ERP systems;
• PMP certified highly preferred;
• Locomotive knowledge preferred.
Key Job Elements• Manage multiple projects of Locomotive Builds, Research and Development, Rebuild and Repower, Aftermarket products and Power Products that range is scope of small to NPI;
• Ensure that all projects are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget;
• Organize structure and manage project teams to meet the needs of the project;
• Lead the development of a detailed project plan;
• Develop and communicate project scope, goals and deliverables, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring transparency;
• Ensure resource availability and allocation;
• Controls project costs and manage the project budget;
• Use appropriate verification techniques to manage changes in project scope, schedule and costs;
• Measure project performance using appropriate systems, tools and techniques;
• Report and escalate to management as needed;
• Perform risk management to minimize project risks;
• Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation;
• Communicate project status with the organization and the end customer as defined by the contract;
• Establish and maintain relationships all stakeholder within the project reach;
• Ensures all deliverables of the contract are met;
• Accept special assignments as needed;
• Travel as required to perform duties (20-30%).
