The Program Manager I, Pediatric Outcomes Science provides operational and project management support for research and educational Outcomes Science efforts across a comprehensive portfolio of health equity-aligned initiatives in Pediatric Oncology and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. This portfolio encompasses a diverse set of projects aimed at improving outcomes for children with cancer and blood disorders, with a priority focus on pediatric health equity research and establishing novel infrastructure to rapidly advance equity in childhood cancer outcomes. Working closely with Pediatric Outcomes Science leadership on program design, development, and implementation, the Program Manager I helps strategize and move new research and educational initiatives forward, and serves as a program liaison internally, among multiple departments at DFCI and Boston Children's Hospital, and externally, with collaborators across other institutions nationally.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Scope and Complexity: Manage programs with clearly defined objectives and limited scope, focusing on supporting departmental and cross-institutional goals of improving outcomes for children and young adults with cancer and blood disorders.
• Decision Making: Make informed decisions about resource allocation and project timelines, with some autonomy in resolving operational challenges; identify and escalate risks and issues as appropriate.
• Stakeholder Interaction: Serve as a liaison among multiple departments at DFCI and Boston Children's Hospital, and with external collaborating institutions, to ensure program activities are aligned and communicated effectively; represent Outcomes Science at internal and external meetings as identified.
• Program Management: Support the development and implementation of projects that advance the goals of the Pediatric Outcomes Science program; build and optimize workflows for the IGNITE Health Equity Research Consortium (including collaboration with national partners); build and optimize workflows for the DFCI Center for Pediatric and Young Adult Outcomes Research; co-develop delivery plans and activate workstreams, ensuring they align with program goals and Institute strategies.
• Quality Assurance: Track program progress and workstream timelines/milestones, ensuring that outputs are accurate and meet established performance metrics; monitor program research portfolio, research funding, and other program statistics.
• Documentation: Maintain accurate program documentation, including SOPs, training manuals, and reference materials, and ensure compliance with institutional policies and procedures; provide training and serve as an information resource on Pediatric Outcomes Science and Center for Pediatric and Young Adult Outcomes Research operations and coordination.
• Communication: Organize and facilitate programmatic meetings; streamline communication among research investigators, Institute leadership, and external collaborators, ensuring all members are informed of updates and changes; create and manage lay communication resources for branding and content consistency and ease of use by patient advocates.
• Education and Training: Support educational Outcomes Science efforts, including organizing and coordinating well-being and professional development initiatives for the program (e.g., retreats), and serving as a resource for training on program operations and coordination.

Minimum Job Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in business administration, public health, public policy, social work, or related field aligned with health equity.
• Three (3) years of experience in program coordination, program administration or comparable roles, OR one (1) year of program management experience required.

Experience Preferred

• Experience in pediatric oncology, health equity research, or an academic medical center/clinical research setting.
• Experience supporting multi-site or consortium-based research programs.

License/Certification/Registration Required: None

Supervisory Responsibilities: No

Patient Contact: Yes -- Limited, indirect contact with oncology patients and families in the context of program initiatives (e.g., patient advocate/community engagement), in-person and via email.

The hiring range is based on market pay structures, with individual salaries determined by factors such as business needs, market conditions, internal equity, and based on the candidate's relevant experience, skills and qualifications.

For union positions, the pay range is determined by the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
