Full Job Description
Summary:

GPS is seeking a Program Manager (PM) to work with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Atlanta, GA. The Program Manager will report to GPS senior leadership and be responsible for the day-to-day management of various projects and tasks, overseeing the execution of timely, high-quality deliverables for the client. 

 

This hybrid role requires occasional on‑site work at the Atlanta CDC office, so candidates must live within commuting distance. Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

  • Serves as the primary CDC interface and maintains strong relationships with client representatives, subject matter experts, partners, and stakeholders.
  • Leads program planning, budgeting, performance monitoring, reporting, and evaluation activities.
  • Provides guidance to clients on program requirements, priorities, and project execution.
  • Identifies and resolves issues affecting project schedules, deliverables, resources, and performance.
  • Manages multiple projects and priorities in fast-paced, deadline-driven and emergency response environments.
  • Manages employee performance and personnel matters, including hiring support, coaching, corrective actions, disciplinary actions, and termination, in coordination with management and Human Resources.
  • Supports resource mobilization, contracts, agreements, and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Prepares and submits programmatic, narrative, and financial reports and updates.
  • Supports public health/public safety initiatives through stakeholder engagement, data collection, analysis, and dissemination of findings.
  • Serves as a program point of contact and provides coverage for team members as needed.
Qualifications

Necessary Skills and Knowledge:

  • Strong program and operational management skills with demonstrated ability to deliver results.
  • Excellent judgment, decision-making, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to independently manage multiple priorities, deadlines, schedules, and changing requirements.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to mediate client-staff conflicts and manage sensitive personnel matters, including performance counseling, disciplinary actions, and termination when necessary.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and develop solutions to complex issues.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and SharePoint.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field and at least 5 years of relevant professional experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of direct supervisory or management experience, including employee performance management, conflict resolution, disciplinary actions, and personnel decisions.
  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple projects, stakeholders, and competing priorities in a complex environment.
  • Experience developing and maintaining strategic partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain CDC clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience working with the CDC or within a comparable federal public health environment.
  • Located in the Atlanta, Georgia area or able to support required on-site client interactions.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
