Position Purpose

The Program Manager for Cancer Research Training Education and Coordination (CRTEC) will be key in Dartmouth Cancer Center's continued development and training of current and future researchers, clinicians, faculty, and staff. The Program Manager will develop, implement, and support programming for K-12/CTE to develop interest in and grow the next generation of cancer researchers. This position will focus on programs to be advertised nationally, inclusive of programming that will aim to develop hyper-local talent to address recruitment and retention issues. This position will perform grant writing for CRTEC programming at all levels including graduate students, faculty, researchers, and staff. And will inform best practices for programming recruitment.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or combination of experience and education in Business Administration, Education, Public Health, Social Sciences, or a related field.


Experience:
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in program management, with a focus on educational and workforce programming.
  • Experience with a rural populations will be helpful, but is not required.
  • Proven experience in higher education, cancer research, or related fields is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to formulate, initiate and execute programs custom-designed to address complex institutional and multi-institutional priorities. Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, students, researchers, and clinicians.
  • Demonstrated ability to effect change.


Skills:
  • Strong program management skills with experience leading cross-functional teams.
  • In-depth knowledge of CRTEC current principles and best practices.
  • Ability to analyze complex data and present actionable insights.
  • High level of organizational and time management skills.

Description

Program Management:
  • Manages programming related to Cancer Research Training, Education and Coordination portfolios.
  • Designs and implements program improvements as well as improves existing programs to meet contemporary Dartmouth expectations of diversity as measured in lived experiences, community involvement, and education operations.
  • Responds to needs for increasing the pipelines for workforce growth and advancement in cancer, training students, and focusing on leadership training for inter- and transdisciplinary research teams.
  • Drives initiatives that promote an inclusive and supportive environment.
  • Drives the development, implementation, and support of programming related to Workforce Development and Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB).
  • Assists with or develops, creates, and delivers innovative programs to meet DCC's specific goals, including increased diversity at all academic levels; training programs and workshops for K-12 and CTE; programming to build productive and adaptable training environments attractive to scientific or clinical learners in all areas of cancer; meets DCC's specific goals, including supporting programs to address DCC priorities.
  • Develop detailed project plans, including timelines, resources, and milestones.
  • Develops program budgets and oversees expenses; provides annual progress reports.
  • Supports the preparation of reports and updates for leadership and stakeholders.
  • Is cross trained and provides back up support for the other CRTEC program manager (1128477)
  • Lead and manage cross-functional projects, ensuring timely and successful delivery within scope and budget.
  • Builds bridges to leverage in-house and community-oriented joint efforts that will advance DCC's continuous flow of program improvement in synergistic education, workforce development, diversity and inclusiveness, and community outreach to focus on concerns of our catchment area.
  • Supports engagement with key stakeholders, including academic institutions at the K-12/CTE levels, research or clinical entities, and community partners, to drive initiatives, develop community- and catchment area-centered CRTEC programming focusing on the next generation of researchers, clinicians, and supporting roles.
  • Review and recommend changes to programming recruitment and retention practices to ensure they promote DEIB principles.
  • Advises on best practices for creating an inclusive and equitable work and research environment.
  • Stays current with industry trends and best practices.
  • Participates in discussions around funding and strategic initiatives.
  • Develops metrics and surveys to establish programming impact, return on investment, areas for growth or improvement.

  • Targets external funding opportunities and creates concepts and programming to meet funding opportunity specifications.
  • Writes and prepares grant submissions for continued and expanding CRTEC program at all levels including beyond the K-12/CTE.
  • Supports writing of progress reports for funding agencies.
  • Assists with the development of the narrative; researches, writes, and directs for documentation of DCC planning and outcomes for use with internal, external, and development audiences.
