What is a Program Manager- Business Continuity?
Under general supervision, the Program Manager- Business Continuity, assists in the development, maintenance, and implementation of all components of the Business Continuity Program (BCP) in adherence with industry standards and Central Hudson’s emergency response plans. The Program Manager may also assist with updating Gas, Electric and Hydro emergency response plans.
What does a Program Manager-Business Continuity do?
Serves as the Central Hudson Business Continuity Plan Subject Matter Expert
Assists in the development, maintenance, and updates of comprehensive business continuity plans tailored to utility-specific risks, such as extreme weather, pandemics, and other man made or natural disasters
Assists in the development, maintenance and updates of the Crisis Management Plan
Collaborates with various stakeholders (IT, Security, HR, etc.) to ensure Business Continuity Plans information are current and accurate
Performs annual audits of each stakeholder’s Business Continuity Plan
Assists in the identification of gaps and vulnerabilities in planning capabilities
Conducts annual exercises of appropriate Business Continuity Plans
Conducts development workshops for stakeholders
Provides critical feedback to stakeholders on the need for preparedness and risk mitigation
Participates in industry workshops and forums to maintain industry standards and identify continuous improvement opportunities.
Assists in various projects being performed in the Emergency Management Division.
As a member of the Emergency Response team, accepts roles as required during gas and/or electric emergency preparation and response. The Program Manager 6 Business Continuity must be available outside of normal working hours to support the emergency response needs.
Provides support for storm restoration efforts
What does it take to be a Program Manager-Business Continuity?
Required:
Bachelors degree in Business, Risk Management, Emergency Management or related field. In lieu of a bachelor 2s degree, an associate 2s degree in Business, Risk Management, Emergency Management or related field and a minimum of 3 years of work experience in developing Business Continuity Plans, Continuity of Operations Plans (COOP), or Emergency Response Plans. In lieu of an associates degree, a high school diploma and 5 years of work experience in developing Business Continuity Plans, Continuity of Operations Plans (COOP), or Emergency Response Plans
Strong interpersonal skills for interaction with both internal and external stakeholders
Ability to work collaboratively with business leaders across all disciplines of the company
Strong attention to detail
Strong computer skills, including a high level of proficiency with Microsoft Office
Well-developed written and verbal communication skills
Valid driver 2s license
Preferred:
Five years of experience developing Business Continuity Plans, Continuity of Operations Plans or other Emergency Response Plans
Gas and/or electric utility operation knowledge
Familiarity with ISO 22301 3Security and Resilience 6 Business Continuity Management Systems 4
