Job Description

The Program Director for Graduate Programs provides strategic leadership, coordination, oversight, and administration of all master's degree programs within the Division of Health, the Division of Public Health, and the Division of Kinesiology and Physical Education. Reporting directly to the Dean, the Program Director is responsible for ensuring the effective operation, growth, quality, compliance, assessment, recruitment, retention, and continuous improvement of graduate education across the School.

The Program Director serves as the primary administrative leader for graduate programs and works collaboratively with division directors, faculty, academic advisors, university departments, and external stakeholders to advance student success, accreditation readiness, enrollment growth, program effectiveness, and strategic institutional priorities.

The salary is determined in accordance with the University's compensation structure and will be commensurate with the candidates' education and experience, within the assigned salary range for this position.

Responsibilities:

Graduate Program Leadership and Administration:
  • Provide centralized leadership and oversight for all master's degree programs within the School.
  • Coordinate and monitor graduate program operations, policies, procedures, and academic standards.
  • Develop and implement initiatives that promote program growth, quality improvement, and student success.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between graduate students, faculty, divisions, and university administrative units.
  • Monitor program effectiveness and recommend improvements to enhance graduate education outcomes.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of new graduate programs, concentrations, and certificates.


Recruitment, Enrollment, and Student Success:
  • Develop and implement graduate student recruitment, marketing, and enrollment strategies.
  • Coordinate outreach activities with academic divisions and university enrollment management offices.
  • Monitor graduate student progression, retention, graduation rates, and degree completion timelines.
  • Identify and implement strategies to improve student persistence and academic success.
  • Assist prospective and current students with navigating graduate program requirements.


Academic Program Coordination and Compliance:
  • Coordinate graduate admissions, degree plans, degree audits, and graduation clearance processes.
  • Ensure compliance with university policies, Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board requirements, Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) standards, and applicable accrediting agencies.
  • Maintain graduate program records, reports, and documentation.
  • Monitor curriculum implementation and assist with program reviews and assessment activities.
  • Support accreditation preparation, reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives.


Assessment, Strategic Planning, and Reporting:
  • Collect, analyze, and report data related to enrollment, retention, graduation, student outcomes, and program performance.
  • Prepare reports and recommendations for the Dean, School leadership, and university administrators.
  • Participate in strategic planning initiatives that support graduate education and institutional priorities.
  • Assist with developing goals, performance measures, and outcome assessments for graduate programs.


Faculty and Stakeholder Collaboration :
  • Collaborate with division directors, faculty, program coordinators, advisors, and administrative staff to ensure effective program delivery.
  • Coordinate graduate program meetings, workshops, orientations, and professional development activities.
  • Foster partnerships with community organizations, healthcare agencies, governmental entities, and professional organizations to support graduate education initiatives.
  • Support career development, experiential learning, and professional networking opportunities for graduate students.


Other Duties:
  • Serve on university, college, and school committees as assigned.
  • Participate in special projects and initiatives supporting the School's strategic goals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Dean.


Required Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in an applicable field.
  • Ten years of work-related experience.


Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong public speaking, organizational, leadership, and supervisory skills.
  • Maintains attention to detail and utilizes sound judgment.
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating academic programs, student success initiatives, or graduate education activities.
  • Strong organizational, communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience managing multiple priorities and collaborating across various stakeholder groups.
  • Experience using student information systems, data analytics, and reporting tools.
  • Knowledge of graduate education best practices and enrollment management.
  • Knowledge of higher education policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Knowledge of graduate admissions, advising, retention, and degree completion processes.
  • Ability to analyze data and make evidence-based recommendations.
  • Ability to lead strategic initiatives and manage complex projects.
  • Strong leadership, relationship-building, and customer service skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and university information systems.

  • Office environment with occasional evening and weekend activities.
  • Ability to attend recruitment, outreach, and university events.
  • Occasional local and out-of-state travel as required.
