PROGRAM DIRECTOR OF RADIOGRAPY

BASIC FUNCTION

The Program Director of Radiography provides strategic, academic, and administrative leadership for the Radiography Program. The Program Director is responsible for ensuring academic excellence, maintaining program accreditation, overseeing curriculum and clinical education, supervising faculty and staff, supporting student success, and fostering partnerships with clinical affiliates and healthcare organizations. The position ensures the program complies with institutional policies, Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) accreditation standards, and prepares graduates for successful careers in medical imaging and eligibility for certification through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Provide strategic leadership and oversight for all academic, clinical, operational, and administrative functions of the Radiography Program.
• Ensure the program maintains compliance with JRCERT accreditation standards, ARRT requirements, institutional policies, and applicable federal and state regulations.
• Lead continuous program assessment, evaluation, and quality improvement initiatives utilizing student learning outcomes, program effectiveness measures, and accreditation benchmarks.
• Provide leadership for curriculum planning, development, implementation, review, and revision to ensure alignment with current professional standards and workforce needs.
• Recruit, supervise, mentor, develop, and evaluate full-time and adjunct faculty in accordance with University policies and applicable collective bargaining agreements.
• Collaborate with the Academic Dean regarding faculty appointments, reappointments, promotion, tenure recommendations, and professional development opportunities.
• Coordinate orientation, mentoring, and ongoing development for new faculty members.
• Provide academic advising, mentoring, and support to students while promoting retention, progression, graduation, and professional success.
• Oversee local recruitment activities, establish written criteria for the admissions committee and consult with the Admissions Office regarding prospective candidates for admissions, serve as a member of the admissions committee, assist with site based orientations, and ensure that student related operations are consistent with program and College policies.
• Establish, develop, and maintain collaborative relationships with hospitals, healthcare organizations, clinical affiliates, professional associations, and advisory committee members.
• Prepare accreditation reports, annual assessments, strategic plans, and other administrative reports required by the University and external agencies.
• Develop, administer, and monitor the program operating budget while ensuring responsible stewardship of financial, laboratory, and instructional resources.
• Participate in institutional planning, assessment, shared governance, committee work, and strategic initiatives.
• Plan for course scheduling, placement of students in clinical settings and assignment of courses.
• Participate in and/or present courses of instruction.
• Pursue professional development and maintain currency in radiologic sciences, educational practices, accreditation standards, and emerging technologies.
• Represent Vermont State University through participation in local, state, regional, and national professional organizations, accreditation activities, and workforce development initiatives.
• Identify and pursue external funding opportunities, including grants, that support program innovation, equipment, student success, and workforce development.
• Collaborate regularly with the Dean and University leadership to establish strategic priorities, evaluate program performance, and advance the mission of Vermont State University.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• Master's degree from an accredited institution in Radiologic Sciences, Health Sciences, Education, or a closely related field.
• Holds a current Vermont Radiography license or is eligible to obtain licensure in the State of Vermont prior to employment.
• Minimum of three (3) years of clinical experience in the professional discipline of radiography.
• Minimum of two (2) years of instructional experience in a JRCERT-accredited radiography program.
• Demonstrated proficiency in curriculum development, program administration, student assessment, instructional methodologies, academic advising, and program evaluation.
• Demonstrated knowledge of JRCERT accreditation standards, ARRT certification requirements, and applicable federal and state regulations governing radiography education.
