Program Director - Epic Readiness, Implementation Planning & Cost Modelling) -REMOTE

Role and Responsibilities

This role is essential to translate strategy into a fully defined implementation plan, cost model, and staffing model prior to Epic engagement. Epic does not account for all implementation costs (e.g., go-live support, infrastructure, service desk scaling). This role ensures the organization has a complete and defensible funding model and implementation plan.

Core Responsibilities
  • Lead Epic readiness and implementation planning across DMHAS and partner hospitals
  • Analyze Epic workbooks to define:
    • Scope
    • Complexity drivers
    • Timeline assumptions
  • Determine module scope (e.g., Wisdom, Cupid, Rehab, LTC, etc.)
  • Build comprehensive cost model, including:
    • Epic costs
    • NON-Epic costs (go-live support, service desk, infrastructure, integration)
  • Develop staffing model across all phases:
    • Pre-implementation
    • Implementation
    • Go-live support
    • Post-go-live sustainment
  • Define:
    • Implementation waves and sequencing
    • Infrastructure readiness (Citrix/VDI, ServiceNow, integration)
  • Align all inputs into a cohesive implementation roadmap and funding request

Minimum Qualification
  • Minimum: 10-12 years healthcare IT
  • Preferred: 12-15+ years

Leadership requirement:
  • At least 5-8 years leading large-scale implementations or programs

Experience at:
  • Program Director
  • Senior Engagement Manager
  • Transformation Lead


Required Core Experience

Epic Implementation Experience (critical)

Direct experience with:
  • Epic implementations (multi-hospital strongly preferred)

Experience in at least one of:
  • Community Connect
  • Enterprise rollout
  • Large-scale module expansion


Implementation Planning & Scope Definition

Built:
  • Implementation roadmaps (not just executed them)
  • Defined:
  • Scope, timeline, and sequencing
  • Experience translating:
  • Requirements 14 build plan


Cost Modeling

Experience developing:

Full lifecycle cost models

Must include:
  • Implementation AND non-implementation costs

Ability to identify:
  • What vendors (like Epic) do NOT include


Staffing Model Development

Built staffing models for:
  • Implementation
  • Go-live support (at-the-elbow)
  • Post-go-live sustainment


Technical + Infrastructure Awareness

Must understand:
  • VDI / Citrix environments
  • Service desk scaling (ServiceNow or equivalent)
  • Integration architecture (HL7/FHIR concepts)

Preferred

  • Program / Delivery Leadership
  • PMP (Program Management Professional)
  • PMP (expected baseline)
