Full Job Description
The Senior Pharmacy Clinical Strategist serves as a strategic advisor to Pharmacy and Health Management leadership, providing expertise in pharmacy benefit management, clinical pharmacy strategy, provider engagement, population health, and healthcare transformation. This role supports the development and execution of strategic initiatives designed to advance MVP's Empowered Well-Being strategy, strengthen provider and pharmacy partnerships, optimize medication-related outcomes, and modernize pharmacy and clinical operating models. Working closely with Pharmacy, Health Management, Provider Partnerships, Population Health, and executive leadership, the Senior Pharmacy Clinical Strategist provides strategic guidance, market insights, and recommendations that support organizational priorities and long-term growth. The role serves as a trusted thought partner, bringing a broad healthcare perspective informed by experience across health plans, PBMs, provider organizations, and healthcare consulting environments. Key Responsibilities: Pharmacy Strategy & Transformation - Partner with pharmacy and enterprise leaders to evaluate, refine, and advance strategic priorities across pharmacy and clinical functions. - Provide strategic guidance regarding pharmacy benefit strategy, medication management programs, clinical pharmacy services, and emerging healthcare trends. - Assess existing pharmacy programs, processes, and organizational capabilities to identify opportunities for modernization and improvement. - Support the development and implementation of future-state pharmacy strategies aligned with organizational goals and member health outcomes. - Advise leadership on healthcare industry trends, innovations, and best practices that may impact pharmacy operations and strategy. Provider, PBM & Clinical Partnerships - Serve as a strategic advisor on initiatives involving providers, health systems, PBMs, and other healthcare partners. - Provide expertise related to PBM operations, formulary strategy, utilization management, specialty pharmacy, and value-based care models. - Support efforts to strengthen collaboration between pharmacy, provider, and clinical teams to improve care delivery and member outcomes. - Assist in evaluating strategic partnership opportunities and identifying innovative approaches to improve quality, affordability, and performance. - Advise leadership on pharmacy's role within integrated care and population health strategies. Population Health & Well-Being Strategy - Contribute to the advancement of MVP's Empowered Well-Being strategy through the integration of pharmacy and clinical best practices. - Identify opportunities to leverage pharmacy programs in support of population health management, chronic condition management, and preventive care initiatives. - Assess emerging models related to medication adherence, digital health, care coordination, and whole-person health management. - Develop recommendations that strengthen alignment between pharmacy, care management, provider engagement, and enterprise health outcomes. Executive Consultation & Organizational Effectiveness - Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on strategic pharmacy, clinical, and healthcare transformation initiatives. - Facilitate strategic planning discussions, leadership working sessions, and cross-functional stakeholder meetings. - Conduct assessments and provide objective recommendations regarding program effectiveness and operational opportunities. - Support change management activities associated with pharmacy and clinical transformation efforts. - Develop executive-level presentations, business cases, and strategic recommendations for leadership review. Thought Leadership - Bring external market intelligence, healthcare industry insights, and best practices to strategic discussions. - Monitor emerging trends in pharmacy, healthcare delivery, population health, and value-based care. - Identify opportunities to enhance organizational readiness for evolving healthcare and pharmacy landscapes. - Promote innovative thinking and strategic problem-solving related to pharmacy and clinical priorities. Qualifications: Required - Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Public Health, or a related field. - Ten (10) or more years of progressive leadership, consulting, or strategic advisory experience within healthcare, pharmacy, health plan, PBM, or provider settings. - Demonstrated expertise in pharmacy benefit management, clinical pharmacy strategy, population health, or healthcare transformation. - Experience influencing and advising senior leaders on strategic initiatives and organizational priorities. - Strong knowledge of healthcare delivery systems, pharmacy operations, provider engagement, and value-based care models. - Excellent communication, facilitation, relationship-building, and stakeholder management skills. - Ability to work independently while effectively collaborating across multiple teams and functions. Preferred - PharmD, MBA, MHA, MPH, or other advanced degree. - Experience working within a health plan, PBM, integrated delivery system, provider organization, or healthcare consulting firm. - Experience supporting pharmacy transformation, operating model redesign, clinical program development, or healthcare modernization efforts. - Demonstrated success advising executive leadership on complex strategic initiatives. Pay Transparency MVP Health Care is committed to providing competitive employee compensation and benefits packages. The base pay range provided for this role reflects our good faith compensation estimate at the time of posting. MVP adheres to pay transparency nondiscrimination principles. Specific employment offers and associated compensation will be extended individually based on several factors, including but not limited to geographic location; relevant experience, education, and training; and the nature of and demand for the role. We do not request current or historical salary information from candidates. $146,120.00-$194,339.75
